I am married with 7 children, 28 grands, and 13 great-grandchildren. I am a culture consultant part-time. I write A Poem a Day in February for 8 years now. I wrote 4 - 50,000 word stories in NaNoWriMo. I write on Vocal/Medium daily.

Ojibwe Language Coloring Books and Snow Snake
Sandra has been my niece for just a couple of years now. My siblings and I adopted her father in the Native American way. When her boy, Liam, my great nephew now, opened the books pictured above, he was all excited and started looking through them right away.

The Day the Deer Ran Wild
Today, I finish NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month, the challenge of writing 50,000 words in one month. This week, I received notice that I was awarded a $4,000 grant to write a book. The book will include interviews with everyday elders to talk about life yesterday and today.

The Big C
In 2013, I was treated with chemotherapy for the non-Hodgkins lymphoma I had. I say had because so far it has not come back. The cancer, I was told is the kind that is treatable, probably not curable. The last PET scan I had was in 2013, and I was cancer-free.

What It Means - An eddy is a current of water or air running contrary to the main current, especially as a whirlpool. In figurative use, eddy may also refer to a contrary or circular current of thought or policy. // The strong gusts whipped up eddies of fallen leaves. // They were caught up in the eddies of chaos.

Update On National Novel Writing Month
So what can I say, except that I have done this before and it doesn't scare me anymore. There is some excitement/fear, well, maybe a lot, but I care about getting it done now. Yesterday, I didn't quite meet my goal but I created a table of contents, wrote all the titles in, and edited some - sigh!
