Christmas Comes Creeping Closer
Poppy's prompts - pleasing poetry pleasure
Star of Bethlehem or Christmas star
way up in the sky, way up far
Wreath's from the winter solstice. Golly,
by decorating homes with boughs of holly,
you get life and protection assured said a seer.
During the dark winter months of the year.
Gingerbread is from 2400 B.C. in Greece said a piece
in the media. A man said everything originated in Greece
That man is from Greece and he continued on without cease.
Mistletoe is for kissing when standing under it.
By taking a berry off each time you kiss you get
good luck or bad luck for not taking a berry. You can quit
when all the berries are gone. The kissing comes to an end!
Tinsel was silver for decorating sculptures, til later it helped send
some shine to the lanterns placed on the Christmas trees
and still later making a beautiful decoration some may call the bees knees!
~~
Star light? Tinsel makes some light bright,
Mistletoe is a no-no if you don't know
how to use it. Good or bad luck can be a no-no.
Gingerbread cookies are not everyone's favorite
They must be some peoples though as they have a right
long history. I like to place a star on my wreath for light
and a small wreath on my star, but that is quite a sight!

Whoaaaa, I had no idea that gingerbread has been around for sooooo long! Loved your poems!
Haha - Peru says it is all from there - like 300 or so varieties of potatoes. And that photo make me want some cookies but gingerbread is not my fave - soft molasses gingerbread ones are good. β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
