Veil, Maple, Halcyon, Horizon, and Shell
Poppy's prompts for November
Veil
Veil is what covered her face on the day of her wedding
Everyone in the church wondered why she needed steadying
In time she appeared to need less help walking
Looking at her car after the wedding they were now understanding!
~~
Maple
Maple trees contribute sap to make syrup, sugar, and candy
Apple trees contributes fruit that makes maple candy dandy
Pear trees do not grow here but I'm sure they would be handy
Leaf of the maple is the French Canadian flag and eye-candy!
~~
Halcyon
Halcyon has several meanings and I especially like the last
A mythical bird calming the water, what a blast
Look it is floating on a nest in the sea, with sass
Calm and peaceful time of the solstice in the vast past
You will enjoy the colorful bird, the kingfisher showing class
Or the tropical Asian or African kingfisher is last
Now you have heard the different definitions and that went fast!
~~
Horizon
Horizon is beauty in the sky where mountains lie
Outside there is a better picture to look at up in the sky
Right in front of you, it is easy to see why
I love a good horizon rather than an uprisen
Zen is peaceful and calm, every bit the horizon
Okay, it's just plain beautiful to see way up high
Now, it is time to say goodbye!
~~
Shell
Shell gas station was my first thought
Hell, why not, I can get caught
Every line is not easy to write
Let me tell you this will be a sight
Letting me know about the ones you bought!

This collection of poems is a delightful blend of wit, observation, and wordplay. Each piece captures a unique moment or idea, inviting the reader to pause and appreciate the beauty in the ordinary. Thank you for sharing these wonderful verses. They have brought joy and inspiration to my day.
Whoaaaa, you made an Acrostic for each word! That's so freaking fantastic!
I always love your poems, Denise. So fun and real!
I could see the imagery of the poem. The line with 'Shell' how about 'Shell on the road shiny.' Good work.
Lovely job Denise! π
