Introduction

Once I hit my 1,900th Vocal post I started equating some with important years for me and in history. I also thought I had done a milestone piece but my last one like that was this, mainly about hitting forty thousand reads and how I did it. Things have changed since then, but you might be a little interested in it.

I also remembered doing a milestones piece on other creators who have passed certain points in their Vocal creative journeys and though one of mine was included to conclude it, this was about others and you can read that here.

The music I have included is SAS featuring my mate Jim and me singing The Proclaimers' "500 Miles" and thought the logo that Chris Ball (I think) created for the gig is appropriate for all Vocal Creators.

This piece is a lot longer than I originally intended, and I am cherry-picking items I see as milestones so there are over two thousand for me to sift through, that a hundred and seventy Vocal pages.

So What Is This?

This is a sort of best of, a list of significant Vocal posts of mine, and I expect I will do this again in the future. Some of this you may know, some may surprise you but all have been part of my Vocal journey and contributed to my success because of you, my wonderful audience. Thank you for your love, encouragement and support, without you, I could not be sharing this.

In April 2021 I joined Vocal and expanded this story from my blog Seven Days In and it has got a good number of reads and some good feedback. This is where my Vocal journey started after many years of writing on my blog which you can see here.

This was my first poem and was meant to be a Vocal challenge but I didn't realise you had to manually enter a challenge. That was a lesson learned, but people still like this.

I was overjoyed when I made my first dollar from reads so that was wen I started to feel that Vocal could work for me.

This was when I posted my hundredth Vocal story and passed a thousand reads. Part of the reason for me creating this overall story is to show that every Vocal creator can do this. I am nothing special, and there are many who post far more frequently than I do.

This was my first Top Story, something I thought that would never happen, inspired by a couple of things detailed in the poem itself.

This was the first of many stories that I shared about myself, telling you about my name.

This was the start of a fiction series where I tried to find something positive and not to write in darkness or horror genres. I think it worked and there are now five stories in this series and there may be more to come. Together they are the closest thing I have produced that could be considered as a novel, but I have to keep changing the stories to make sure the whole makes sense when I add new ones. Thirty thousand words is not enough for a novel though, but I am proud of the series.

This was from some Challenges I used to set, but I am probably finished with them because of my extreme laziness, but they did work, and I loved doing them.

I finally got a story with a dollar for reads on a single story, that was one more significant Vocal Milestone.

This was significant because due to my stories on Vocal and a chat with Call Me Les I accidentally published a book. Something I had wanted to do since the eighties and this is how it happened.

The Vocal Ambassador's Program has made me more money than anything else on Vocal and this is how you too can do the same, though with the lower challenge prizes I don't get as many sign-ups as I used to.

This was a marker for my five-hundredth Vocal Story. It is now far in the past for me, but it is something that many will still be working towards.

This was the final story in my liver cancer treatment, maybe not for the faint-hearted but there was cake at the Strawberry Lounge in Alnwick.

This was a marker for my six-hundredth Vocal story, though now a hundred stories is a common occurrence for me, but that is just because I publish a lot of stories, nothing more.

One of the few interviews I have done, with a great record label and cover designer. We still meet up every now and then. Again I have to thank the interviews of Call Me Les for helping me with this. This is her index:

This is the poem I am most proud of, my take on "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe which I used to conclude my anthology of dark poetry inspired by Dharrsheena.

This was a poem for my granddaughter Alexis Leia on her second birthday.

My first piece (of two) in Vocal Resources. This took an age to publish, and a few people have taken this up, though many more think it's a go0d idea.

My thousandth Vocal post.

Some great examples of reciprocal Vocal creators from a year back.

I have ideas for ongoing writing projects, this is one that will keep going, when I see something to inspire me.

This was my 1,500th story on Vocal and I did get a $15 tip from Vocal for reaching this milestone, which was nice.

This is the one where Vocal accidentally placed me in a challenge, it won't happen again I am sure.

This was my last Top Story which was not put forward by someone else.

My 2,000th Vocal Story, now on my way to three thousand.

A Conclusion

I will conclude this piece with this poem about some of my favourite Vocal Facebook Groups.:
