Challenges And Prompts For Vocal Creators
And Other Artists

Introduction
I will admit that the thing that tempted me into Vocal was the big money challenges (which are now smaller but more frequent) but surprisingly Vocal actually covers all my requirements for writing and rewards.
So Prompt And Challenges
Vocal normally has a few challenges running and mostly they are good to use as prompts, and you can check out the latest ones here which carry a $500 first-place bonus:
They also have lists of prompts and first lines which you can find here, but these are prompts, not paid challenges:
There are also unofficial challenge that sometimes reward winners with small prizes and you can find some of these listed here:
However Vocal are not the only ones offering rewards and prizes, but often you will see competitions advertised that, for an entrance fee, you stand a chance of winning a big cash prize.
I cannot focus on many things, and these sort of challenges, to me, are like putting in a lot of work to enter an expensive lottery draw.
This one was free and shared by my friend Rock. I had a story that fitted so I decided to drop one in there:
The thing is, Vocal actually is more than enough for me.
I can write pieces like this, I don't need the challenges and prompts but I do like to have them available if I do need some inspiration, and I do like to be able to write every day.
I think because I am so eclectic in my reading and listening, that spills over into my creative oeuvre allowing me to write about anything, and also be selective in my subjects.
I know others get hit with writer's block and imposter syndrome, and I am lucky enough to have got past that. I still get criticism but unless it is constructive I do not take any notice of it.
Conclusion
I will keep entering Vocal Challenges if they interest me, but I know, for me, they are nothing but a prompt.
Vocal are the only ones who will get my money though.
I hope that this has given you an idea or two, and thank you so much for reading. If it weren't for you I would not be here.
The music is "Winner/Loser" a Steve Winwood song performed for Stomu Yamasht'a's "Go" which is sort of pertinent to me.

That Spillwords, is it like a contest that we can enter?
Nice summary here! I will definitely be revisiting this on days where the Ideas Spring is running a bit dry!
Good work. I enjoy writing here on Vocal, but I am really enjoying reading and commenting here as well. I am learning a lot in various areas.
I enter challenges I know I can handle here's to hoping one of these days one of them will win,
Same here, I will enter the challenge as long as a story or poem pop in my head
Isn’t it funny how we feel shame about saying we want money, to win money, to receive money etc etc. Money is just another form of energy. Do we feel the same shame about energy gained through sleep? Or food?! 😇
Other than pursuing my young adult and children's fiction books, through publishing houses and "Indie" venues I enjoy the Vocal community although I often feel a lot of my writing is wasted and not read. How do we know what makes a challenge winner actually win? Lord knows my disability check runs thin and I will soon need anew laptop! Maybe I should start playing bingo lottery lol!
