voting
Postmortems of voting woes, disenfranchisement, and how countries around the world elect government officials.
Treat Every Day Like an Election Month
Make It an All Year Long Thing The most important action I will be taking starting this year, is treating every single day of the rest of my life as though it is an election month. What I mean by that, is every day I will be paying attention to what policies and changes are needed in the world. I will take true notice of which politicians and government officials are actively doing their part and stepping up to the challenges. Everyone pays close attention and give consideration to the issues during an election year and the months leading up to the time to vote. For the rest of my days; I will be doing that to the same degree, each and every day.

Voting Is Very Important But It's Not So Easy For Some Of Us.
A lot of us take voting for granted. When we reach the age to vote there's a bit of a rite of passage when you go to the polls to vote. Still as easy as this task seems, it isn't so easy for everyone to vote. Everyone has their own situations and we can't just assume that everyone has the time to do something like this. Today we live in a time when it's increasingly difficult for some to rock the vote.

Voting Rights: Things May Not Know
Criminal Voting Rights: At one point, in time, voting, and the party you support, people did not openly speak. However, since we are entering one of the most critical elections of our time, its time to be educated on what can and can not do. There is much information that people do not know about voting. **These rules are specific to the State of Colorado. Our suggest that you look into what your state’s rights to vote are.**

America Needs a Facelift
The world is burning, before it was a slow burn but now it’s an inferno. We’ve reached a moment in American society where there doesn’t seem to be an organization or movement that is truly for the downtrodden. We are in a weird position where minorities and those on the fringes of society have more rights than years past, but aren’t quite prospering or equal to everyone else. Some days it feels like there will never be an inclusive functioning society. As the saying goes, “the rich get richer and the poor get poorer”. Our laws were written to keep out others and lift up the powerful. We need to get rid of old rules that no longer serve us. We need to enact change, but we have been cornered by the laws that hold our country together.

Your Vote Does Count!
I know many people are finding themselves concerned with reports the last couple of days of Trump indicating there will not be a peaceful transition of power. The very fact the administration is suggesting this is even more reason to get out and vote!

Go Vote!
Let me tell you a story... Once upon a time, a young mother didn't have the ability to drive, no ride, and her polling place was so far away, and along a dangerous highway that she didn't risk walking there with her 1 year old son. This difficulty made it so she couldn't vote. That year a horrible sexist, homophobic, lying, maniacal maniac was voted into office. At first she was happy to be able to say she didn't vote, but she learned slowly but surely that her vote mattered. Fast forward to now: Here she is writing this article.

Countdown: COVID & The Election At 60 Days Out
Is there a particular way you imagined that you would feel leading up to the days where everything will change? It’s hard to imagine things changing more than they already have - we are entering the sixth month of quarantine brought on by an unprecedented global pandemic that has ravaged the United States, I can’t remember the last time I hugged someone, I truly miss lounging at a bar and hate-listening to conversations around me, and I look forward to doctor’s appointments and blood draws for human contact. Shit is weird. Shit has changed so laughably drastically that none of us would have been able to comprehend it this time last year.

Meghan Markle Free to Vote in the Presidential Election
Months ago Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, wouldn't have been able to speak publicly about anything relating to voting. That's because she and her husband Prince Harry were living in England as senior members of the royal family. Royals do not vote, and they are not allowed to share their opinions about politics in public.

THE YEAR IS 2020
2020 has been...trying (and I say trying with a deep and heavy sigh) for a multitude of reasons. Maybe it’s something about my experience in American where I can look danger in its face and simply not care. I’m only 27 years old, so being an adult in America has been a new experience with a steep learning curve. I look around and ask myself, how on earth did we get here? But as I think about the American experiment, I realize that America has always been crazy. Perhaps, no fuck that, definitely even crazier. But for some reason, it seems like we as a country have gone off the deep end. Maybe it’s just youthful naivete, you know...not being alive for the ‘80s and barely conscious of the world around me in the ‘90s. But since the year 2000, as far as I can see, America has been pridefully down with the fuck shit and destruction. Fast forward two decades later, and here we are. A racist reality TV show president and a deadly disease ripped from the script of an apocalyptic Hollywood horror movie looming over the economy. So here we are, some of us at home trying to keep our own lives from falling apart while others go out and work for a wage that is simply unsustainable in this present economy while risking their lives to do so. Because we all know we’re going to die one day, but we pray that that day isn’t anytime soon.
