It is that time of year again, where the leaves start turning into golds, yellows, and various shades of red, where pumpkin spice lattes can be ordered and there is a feeling of warmth in the air. However, it is also the time where voting matters, especially you America. Canadians probably know more about your government than their own, why? because America's leader has a world-wide impact. It is not just the USA, it affects everyone around you that is why you should vote. Make a change, be the voice that counts to a win. I will try my best to not sound biased, but it can be difficult to remain as unbiased. We really need a win this year...here are the candidates for this election...
President Trump and Joe Biden are the top two candidates it seems. Biden believes that "If we give Donald Trump eight years in the White House, he will forever and fundamentally alter the character of this nation, who we are, and I cannot stand by and watch that happen.” He wants to prevent Trump from winning because he fears of the future that the USA would have. Democrats like Biden because he was vice-president for Barrack Obama, so he knows how the government runs and how it should be run. Biden also has eight years of experience in the white house, whereas Trump stepped outside the walls of Wallstreet and into the Whitehouse.
President Trump has made many changes to the USA and they were dramatic and drastic changes. He believes that "Considering that we have done more than any administration in the first two years, this should be easy. More great things now in the works!” however, that is a vague statement, then again most politicians like to be vague in their statements. More great things are coming through? Was it really great? More great things like a new pandemic? Trump basically took all of Obama's hard work and effort and flushed it down the toilet. He changed healthcare, immigration, and environmental regulations.
Many have also dropped out of the election. It comes down to this: either a republican government or a democratic government. Joe Biden is currently polling ahead 279 versus 129. However, in 2016 Trump won, beating Hillary Clinton by eight points. Due to the pandemic, Trump has lost some votes, apparently, he did not handle the pandemic very well.
However, according to the article Biden vs Trump: who is leading the 2020 US election polls? it says that we should not trust the state polls, "After Mr Trump's 2016 win, many Americans, including supporters of Mr Biden, are apt to mistrust the polls, especially at the state level. Poll averages are just one way to estimate the state of the race and can create potential outliers in states that do not have regular surveys."(https://ig.ft.com/us-election-2020/). So, we will have to find out. The whole world will be watching to see what happens next in the election and the US government.
However, now Trump has been infected with COVID-19, but he is completely downplaying it as some articles have written. He has returned to the white house after only being in the hospital for three days and I think it is because he is worried about the election and is trying his best to win again.
