How the turn tables. Top Story - October 2025.
“Well. Well. Well. How the turn tables…” The awkward words uttered by Michael Scott. It’s a bastardized version of “how the tables have turned,” used to indicate a reversal or irony of a situation. And oh, how the tables have turned.

Bagram Airbase: No Deal!
It was in 2021 when Allied forces pulled out of Afghanistan, seemingly falling to defeat to the juggernaut of the Taliban onslaught. Under an agreement for peace, the first Trump administration had agreed to pull its forces out of the country. Biden was left to pick up the pieces of this Trump-Taliban Agreement. So the US and Allies rushed to evacuate the country as the Taliban took control. It's been four years since the Allies pulled out, and the Taliban are now in full control of the country.

'We were treated like animals', deported Gaza flotilla activists say
Following their detention by Israeli authorities, activists from the Gaza flotilla claimed that they were "treated like animals" during their capture and deportation. The Global Sumud Flotilla, which was made up of activists from all over the world, was sailing toward Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid when it was stopped by Israeli naval forces in what the participants claim to be international waters. Before Israel began deporting people, over 400 people, including citizens of multiple nations, were held in detention. After being expelled, many of the deported activists arrived in Istanbul and shared stories of humiliation, intimidation, and violence. They alleged that Israeli forces used excessive force during the raid, deploying armed troops and water cannons to stop the flotilla. They claimed that while they were detained, they were subjected to verbal and physical abuse, were kept in harsh conditions, and were deprived of sleep, food, and water. Some activists claimed they were forced to kneel for hours, faced insults, and were struck when they tried to move. Others said that at detention centers, lights were kept on throughout the night and guards would enter rooms shouting and banging on doors to prevent rest.

World Reacts to Hamas’s Response to Trump’s Gaza Plan
# World Reacts to Hamas’s Response to Trump’s Gaza Plan The international community has been closely watching the unfolding dynamics in the Middle East following Hamas’s sharp response to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s newly outlined plan for Gaza. The idea, presented as part of a larger plan to bring stability to the region, has sparked strong reactions on multiple fronts, including condemnation, cautious support, and a lot of discussion about its viability and how it will affect relations between Israel and Palestine in the future. Trump’s Gaza plan, unveiled with significant fanfare, centers on a blend of reconstruction, demilitarization, and strict oversight. It calls for major international investment in rebuilding Gaza’s war-torn infrastructure, promises humanitarian aid, and proposes security guarantees for Israel. In exchange, Hamas would be required to disarm, renounce violence, and allow a transitional governing body under international supervision to administer the territory until elections could be held. The plan, according to Trump, offers Palestinians “a pathway to peace and prosperity” while ensuring Israel’s security interests remain paramount.

Hamas Partially Agrees to Trump's 20 Point Peace Plan.
Trump told Israel to stop bombing Gaza as Hamas accepted point one of Trump's 20-point peace plan. Israel said it would scale back operations in the Gaza Strip, including its latest offensive in Gaza City. A statement by Hamas said, "In this context, the movement (Hamas) affirms its readiness to discuss the details of this agreement". With this affirmation, a lasting peace and permanent ceasefire draw nearer. That said, a senior Hamas official said the group would not disarm until Israel pulled out of Gaza. The official said the hostages might be released within 72 hours.

The Perils of Martyrdom
Political Violence is never acceptable, no matter who the person being targeted is. Because the moment we say that it is acceptable to murder one person for their political beliefs, we open a very scary can of worms that cannot be resealed. If one person can be killed for their politics, and it's OK because they were the "wrong" politics, then anyone can be killed for having the "wrong" political beliefs.

Will Walt Disney World's The Hall Of Presidents survive the current political divide?
When Disneyland opened in 1955, Walt Disney was already looking for ways to expand his Magic Kingdom. One concept would be Liberty Street an offshoot of Main Street U.S.A themed to life in colonial times which would feature a Hall Of Presidents. While this idea was never realized at Disneyland. It did lead to the development of the show "Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln for the 1964 New York World's Fair and would subsequently open in Disneyland's Opera House on Main Street the following year. After Walt Disney's death in 1966, His brother and longtime business partner Roy put off his retirement to ensure that Walt's "Florida Project" did not die with him and started planning what would become the Magic Kingdom Park and with the subsequent advancement of Human Audio-Animatronic figures in further Disneyland attractions such as Pirates Of The Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion and realizing that when the Florida park opened in 1971, The Bicentennial of the founding of the United States Of America would only be a few years away in 1976. It was decided Walt's original concept for Liberty Street would evolve into the more ambitious Liberty Square for the new Magic Kingdom. This area would be themed to colonial America around the time of the American Revolution. The land would feature Walt Disney World's version of the Haunted Mansion and a finally realized Hall Of Presidents featuring Audio-Animatronic figures of every United States President up to that time. The original version of The Hall of Presidents was narrated by Lawrence Dobkin. The original version of the attraction opened with a chorus of voices reciting the preamble to the Constitution of the United States of America. Much of the narration early in the show was adapted from James Algar's script for Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln.

CIA tangents that straddle the States from LA to Alaska
Despite the best intentions, sometimes no matter how I approach a topic I just can’t find the inspiration to do the research required to tackle it, then suddenly out of the blue an angle appears from nowhere – like a comet shooting through the cosmos – and the writer’s block evaporates.
