The Standard You Walk Past...
It's the first night of Hanukkah, but where families should be celebrating together, they're grieving instead. This afternoon on Bondi Beach, two gunmen opened fire. There was a third gunman, who was disarmed by a bystander before police arrived. IEDs were found in a van nearby, belonging to one of the shooters.

Today, the European Broadcasting Union held it's promised vote about the inclusion of Israel in future Eurovision Song Contests, after 5 countries (Spain, Portugal, Ireland, the Netherlands and Slovania) declared their attention not to participate in next year's Eurovision if Israel was permitted to remain.

The Room No One Enters
The taint of death lingered, even after every physical remnant had been cleaned away. Floors could be scrubbed and disinfected, carpets replaced, tiles and boards scoured, bodies removed... but the feeling remained. An odd miasma of horror, shock and bone-deep grief, tinged with the knowledge that no human had set foot in the room in years.
