performance poetry
Performance Poetry is poetry out loud; poems brought from the page to the stage.
The Hues of Chocolate
My eyes are closed and my fingers are gently pressed against my lips. An entanglement of savory deep chocolatey hues, glide across my tongue, like a ballroom waltz. Deep hues of warm browns with toffee undertones sweep my thoughts away. Away with ease, even. My imagination spikes with another bite of spicy, dark chocolate, chili pepper, goodness. I see a deep welcoming red in my mind; where? I’m not quite sure where exactly this red is coming from; but I feel it, I see it surround me.

Dancing
When I’m alone and my headphones are in. I go to a place that nobody else has ever been. My tunes become dance steps as I create the routine. Every word has a motion and every twirl is a key. I’ve allowed myself to be free. No matter the genre music brings me to life, maybe back to but that’s for another night. When I sway with the melodies, it calms me, the meaning becomes clearer than human eyes can see. Remember I told you, feel it spiritually! Just be.
