Hues of a human
This poem explores the different shades of emotions that colour us as humans.

People say I’m an open book
That they can read my face from just one look
Guess poker isn’t the game for me
If my hand’s on my face for all to see
Straight flush, royal or any of a kind
Don’t matter if the table can read my mind
Cos my skin’s translucent without a curtain or blind
To hide the warm yellows of amusement, the bile greens of envy
The sky blue contentment, the fiery sparks of frenzy
Each coloured ribbon of emotion
Floods inside me like an ocean
And each little hue of mine
Adds to my human shine.
