Elegy
Under The Sun With Grief.
When the sun is shining and there’s a smile on your face, the one you love is always there. Grief stands under the sun with you and enjoys the warmth, as if the bitterness it usually holds has melted away for just a little while. The smile on your face is a crutch for the grief, allowing the weight of it to disappear.

How Long Does Grief Echo?
How Long Does Grief Echo? Sometimes love lingers not in sight, but in sound. The house is quiet now, but not silent Silence is heavy, absolute, the kind that presses against your ribs until you choke on it. This is not silence. This is something else — a thin, shifting hush that still carries traces of what once was.

Box, Stage Left: A Monologue in Three Acts of Deception
Author's Notes Preamble: I wanted to put this right before the action takes place. I am finally published outside of Vocal and by anyone other than myself! This poem is one of two submitted to Vocal legends' Celia and River In Underland's awesome new publication, The Underland Review. This poem and one called "In Situ After “I Need My Girl” by The National (which I will publish on Vocal at another time) are featured in the August 2025 edition, among other names many people will be familiar with.
