Excellent, as always 😊… I don’t know Red Kites… however I do like eagles😉.
I love red Kite's too. On my way down to Bristol they were always circling. Mesmerising. Great haiku.
Fantastic! ✨
Instinct is primal and apparently created a "savage grace" scenario here. This makes one ask all kinds of questions. What one type of poetry success is I'd say. And that photographer who caught this shot...🤩 Great lead photo!
"Savage grace" is the perfect phrase. I loved your sky-ku.
"blue with savage grace"- love the contrast here LC.
Terrifying sky-ku LC. So very gory...
Woah what a pair! The image and this haiku are so dynamic
Extraordinary writing! Well done!
This whole thing is savage.
Hahahahahaha I loved your subtitle more than your Haiku!
Wonderful haiku, LC. Savage grace is brilliant. Incredible pic!
“Savage grace” is powerful. Great haiku, LC!
I'm not familiar with this bird. I can imagine its flight from your words. Great job.
Well done.
I love to watch the kites here, but I think we've discussed that before. Thank you for the image of your red ones, and I love the haiku!
Really can't decide if I love your title or your haiku the most! This was fab.
A/N: I can think of nothing more fitting for a skyku than the red kite. He really is a poet of the sky. If you have never seen them showcasing their mastery of the sky, the way they can swoop and change direction so quickly... I don't think my humble poem even begins to convey it. You must just see it for yourself. They used to be common in this country, but they were seen as vermin, and they were also killed for the taxidermy trade. Egg collecting didn't help either. They were extinct in England and Scotland for a long time. There were a handful in Wales, but not enough to repopulate. Back in the 90s, in my childhood, they were reintroduced by bringing over birds from Spain. Now there are quite a few in the countryside. If I see one, I never fail to stop and watch his flight; a little slice of triumph. We have a lot of kites near here, so this is personal to me. My dad loved birds, and he was always deeply impressed by the red kite. This has surely left an impression on me as well. When I see their curved wings and distinctive tail cutting through the sky, I am always awestruck. This bird is where the savagery and beauty of nature meet in a perfect storm of striking feathers. Writing this, I could feel his yellow eyes boring into me, and hear his call piercing the air. I am confident I've failed to capture even a fraction of all this in these few lines, but it's nice to have aspirations.
Action packed and very active piece I enjoyed it!
I was thinking this poem was going to be about food because of the forked and knife. Unique poem for sure
Lovely words!
beautiful, love eagles, 😊😊
Amazing
that image, though! For a not very keen poemer, you do a good poem. I love your anarchic take on the challenge too. I've been feeling that way recently. Still gotta put something together for fantasy though. Mumbling, sorry. Loved this and that image ha!
