Good evening my lovely Luna!
Pray tell me how you’re faring
Lonely? Far off in Outer Space… that’s the rumour!
Gazing down, impassively staring
Care to join me for some chit-chat?
Remember that night back in Twenty-eleven?
You were as elusive as an alley cat
With us in hot pursuit of your total eclipse, high in the heavens
Playing ‘Hide and Seek’ with your old pal the Sun.
A ‘Blood Moon’ persona you sported
Fancy Dress costume donned for fun.
We peered through window panes but were thwarted
Wintry white clouds curtained you from our sight.
Undaunted, we piled sleepy kids into the car
Determined we’d not miss out on such a rare night
Much like the Wise Men chasing the Star
Minus the camels to ride on afar
Just mechanical ‘horses’ powering our car
Hoping those pesky clouds’d leave ya.
Alas, they were in on the game
We zoomed off to dry old Mareeba
But you kept hidden all the same.
Scanning blotter blank skies, we did roam
Dejected and downcast when you refused to show
Defeated and glum, we headed for home.
Robbed of even a glimpse of your firy red glow
Wearily, we trudged up the stairs
Glanced out the gaping windows
Behold! Your vibrant face caught us unawares!
Exhausted, we collapsed in an untidy heap
Contentedly drinking in your pomegranate hue
Relaxing, unwinding until on the verge of sleep
We reluctantly bid you reluctant adieu.

What a great poem/ letter. Full of wonderful descriptions. Very nice, Angie, I wish you well in the competition.
Pomegranate hue is so unique. I love it and these lines: Much like the Wise Men chasing the Star Minus the camels to ride on afar Great job!
"Contentedly drinking in your pomegranate hue" That was my favourite line! Loved your beautiful poem!
I totally love this! I sense a winner here :)
I love how you make the poem seem like you were a long-time friend with the moon. Sharing a time in 2011.
This is lovely, good luck in the challenge 🤞
This poem is beautiful, Angie, made think of all the events that happened to the Moon many moons ago.
"Pomegranate hue," I love that! I'm glad you finally got to see your moon 🌙
