Cloak of invisibility
‘Instructions for Disappearing’ Challenge
Perfect the ‘Art of Disappearing’!
Follow instructions below:
1. Hide in plain sight
Take care, not to move.
Nothing to see here!
Nothing to lose!
They’ll all soon forget you
Strange, though true.
But,
If
someone’s still able to see you
Go to Step 2.
2. Hang around the ‘Popular’ Crowd
Copy their cookie-cutter fashion
Giggle at their lame ‘jokes’
Nod your Bobble-head
until it makes you choke
Tirelessly twist, trying to fit in
Obviously, you’ll never win!
Slowly, but steadily
you should fade away totally.
If not,
Progress to Stage 3…
3. Retreat to the safe haven of study and books
The ‘Callous, Careless and Cautious’
Will surely give you wide berth
Their ‘winds of reason’ widely disparate
Disdain, disinterest or fear
Guarantee you’ll begin to disappear.
However,
in the unbelievably unlikely event
that it will ever come to this
and
You remain visible to
a persistent person or few
Persevere and press on to Level 4…
4. Stay home in bed
Draw your curtains, lock the door
Blow out your light
Silence your treacherous phone
Let no one know you’re at home.
Any mildly curious minds
Can assume that you’re dead…
Your ultimate disappearance
Successfully achieved, with no interference!
Disclaimer:
An unfortunate few
Can’t complete their ‘Vanishing Act’.
We accept not one ounce of blame!
Lay it firmly at the feet
Of that faithful friend
Or loyal ‘loved one’
who won’t give up
And can’t be fooled.
They’re steadfast and determined
To stick with you till the end.
In which case
Rejoice!
Embrace
Your newly recognised
state of
Visibility!

Great entry! Love the wit and wisdom in this, Angie :)
Okay, this is a fantastic take on the challenge, haha. Funny, but also real in so many ways. Step two is exactly what I did at school and people certainly never noticed my existence, so I can confirm that is true. 🤣 I guess some people can never disappear thanks to friends/family always noticing them (I hope you are one of those people, Angie)! 💛
I love this, Angie! Each step was so cleverly composed and the disclaimer was such a powerful ending! Very thankful to have a "loyal ‘loved one’ who won’t give up And can’t be fooled."
Damn - so good. So true!!
Love it, Angie. Like peeling an onion!!!
I love that you made such an about face for this challenge! Makes it really stand out. Great job!
I'd manage steps 3 and 4 brilliantly, if only I hadn't got married!
Wonderful advice that raises a smile
I love how each step has humour and emotional weight. Good luck with the challenge!
Hahahahaha nod your bobble head. My favourite step was step 4. Loved your take on the challenge,a
