Is it just me or has it been awhile since we have challenged ourselves to the language of poetry?! A haiku, acrostic, abecedarian etc?! I sure miss it. And I miss when Vocal would host different literary poetry challenges. So, I’m feeling spontaneous and hoping you are too! In honor of April dedicating a whole month to us fellow poets, I am hosting an unofficial poetry challenge.

To enter, submit your poem to the Poets community and write ANY poem you wish. The sky is the limit. It can be a haiku, an acrostic or any other literary theme, if you so choose -but not limited to.

I will pick two winners-May 1st awarding a prize in the form of a $20 tip for 1st place and $10 for second place.

I’ve been stuck in a poetry-block. I need your help! It’s been way too long since I’ve felt it myself and I am desperate for poetic energy! I want to feel again. I want to feel what you’re feeling. Is there a shift in your world? Are you heavy-laden, or overjoyed? Is there a narrative to a belief you want the world to see through the perspective of your eyes? Is there rage or horror? Purity and passion? Is there conflict or forgiveness? I want it all.

The only thing I request, is for fresh new work! If we can avoid posting previous best works, it would help encourage the purpose of defeating this poetry block with me :) let’s get fresh ideas together.

May the best poet/poetess win!

Be sure to paste the link to your poem below to win. Feel free to enter as many time as you wish!!!

Have at it!
