here I am in an

e x p a n s i v e

world we all go.

how long I stay depends on

when I tire from linking words

to fill this page... or,

when life rudely interrupts my stay...

this inner arena of endless worlds

can be found between

drifting<<and>>awareness.

It's where the muse waits to

collaborate—

venturing down creative paths

one idea at a time.

it's a place where choices

outnumber the chooser

and conflict instigates

a barraging onslaught of

frivolous thoughts.

the good,

the bad,

the unexplored?

*

When I envision solutions

to a buzz killing problem,

why are odds stacked against

the desired outcome?

It’s because participation is on hiatus and laziness

doesn't care to test latent abilities.

I'd rather dodge the invasion of

suggestions swirling in and out of view

than capturing just one to hire it for the job.

Why?

The answer requires being someone other

than me.

procrastination is the fickle shareholder

in this action-based playground.

i'm no magician.

i'm no sinner or saint.

i am me.

but...

i am all of the above

and so much more when i enter that place

where no one else is invited.

where no one can tell me i'm wrong...

a virtual place where actuality suspends its hold.

a humorous place where thoughts become laughter.

a place where satisfaction and uncertainty duel it out

in an epic battle for existence...

*

i don't know exactly what this place is made of,

but I am grateful for the opportunity to escape…

  • Well deserved Honourable Mention in the challenge ✅. An amusing, fascinating poem. My favourite part is: “ It’s because participation is on hiatus and laziness doesn't care to test latent abilities. I'd rather dodge the invasion of suggestions swirling in and out of view than capturing just one to hire it for the job.”🙃

Well-wrought! This line gave me a vivid image of a miser wringing his hands and hoarding the goods while people waited in line: "procrastination is the fickle shareholder in this action-based playground' On the other hand, I awoke this morning thinking about how an abundance of something creates lack of interest, yet rarity piques wonder or draws attention. Is this mindset an evolutionary holdover for a creature which once had to battle scarcity along with its fellows to survive? Even as tense as things are getting lately, I think we don't know how good we have it, we misers and wastrels! But a current of understanding courses through things, I believe, which may reset balances, I hope, without upsetting any undeserving folks from the safety of the scales! So mote it be!

And that is the source of every wild story, every bit of forsaken poesy, all those wasted hours spent imagining things that don’t exist but aught to. Loved your poem, Lamar!

  • "procrastination is the fickle shareholder in this action-based playground." I especially loved these lines! Awesomeeee poem!

  • Yep, Natasha tends to leave me speechless as well, my friend, unable to put into words anything I might want to say, lol. I'm still a ponderin'!
