Beaches And Breezes

Time To Kill

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 9 months ago 1 min read

Rainbows and carnivals

And beautiful women

The end of the world swirls

With incredible visions

Dragons and unicorns

Fantasies unending

Unfathomable riches born

Imaginations pretending

Green grass and fairytales

Fireflies and beginnings

First loves and wishing wells

A collection of pennies

Spent on the stars

In exchange for their shooting

Sea shells and scars

One lost and one looting

Sweet dreams and nightmares

Sharing the same bed

While we remain unprepared

As they live in our heads

Finding the source

Of beginnings and ends

Swinging on the porch

Enemies into friends

Whatever you choose

You’re in charge of the outcome

Don’t be fooled or confused

The hourglass is the ransom

I sometimes think I’m in charge. Some other times I think I’m not.

You’re in charge of the outcome Don’t be fooled or confused The hourglass is the ransom 👏 we have more control than some think. Our decisions definitely impact the outcome. Great entry

  • I don't think I'm actually in charge of the outcome in any but the most miniscule & insignificant of contrivances. But so be it. I still love the poem.

  • It's all about choice indeed...our lives are what we make of them. Well-wrought, Kelli.

Loved this! Particularly, "A collection of pennies / Spent on the stars" really stood out. Great writing, as always!
