dog
It's no coincidence that a dog is a man's best friend; they're more faithful than most other animals, and more faithful than many people.
Kisses, Cuddles, Belly Rubs
About 5 years ago, we adopted a dog. She is a timid, yet sweet old fart, but her puppy came out after she warmed up to us. Her coat, although graying in spots, is a beautiful dark gold. Heck, she looks like a fox in dog form. Even down to the fluffy tail. Which is the main reason she’s named foxie, Not mini Millie, that was the name she had before we got her.

Rescuing the Human
A few years ago, I had a terrible accident as i was walking out my front door apartment to take my Great Dane for a walk. I was in a hurry, and i grabbed his leash and yelled to my daughter that i was taking Jasper out. Clipped his leash, and opened the door and briskly walked out my front door. As i was walking, i slipped on something on the sidewalk with my artificial leg and with holding the leash landed face first onto the ground with the loudest crack sound inside my body. As i fell, a little dog at the other apartment was unleashed on the front deck with the parents in their apartment. Jasper, sensing that something was wrong, heard rustling in the neighbors bushes and raced towards it. He pulled so fast that my ring finger on my right hand broke and i lost my grip.

Welcome, Mister Mystery!
WELCOME, MR. MYSTERY! He might not look like much yet, but this adorable little puppy is a purebred Toy Fox Terrier (TFT) puppy. For those of you unfamiliar with the breed, it has its origins in early fox terrier litters, from even before the “fox terrier” was divided into the wire fox terrier and smooth fox terrier breeds. The TFT was developed from the smallest puppies from the larger breed litters. If breed historian accounts are true, they were recognized for their ability to maneuver easily underground, flushing foxes from their dens. Other small breeds were used to “fix” the small size and make it a consistent breed feature. Eventually, TFTs were no longer used for fox hunting and moved on to being vermin control agents on farms, performing as circus dogs, and simply living as family pets. In 1938, they were recognized as their own breed for the first time.

Cowboy and BJ
The cold water slowly permeated the soft fur of his undercoat as he paddled across the Trinity River toward the smell of a campfire and roasting fish. He tried to suppress the memories, but they just kept stalking him. “You know what these here fish are called, Cowboy-my-man? They’re CATFISH! You heard me right.” He loved his dad and his goofy sense of humor. (Dad knew perfectly well that cats hate water.)

Putting My Dog to Sleep Was One of the Hardest Things I Ever Had to Do
On Friday, March 31st, 2017 I had my dog Root Beer put to sleep. We had made the appointment earlier in the week. My mom’s recent death not even two weeks prior was sudden and unexpected. With Root Beer, we had too much time to dread the final day.

Seriously? You left me home alone again?
Ginger rolled over her back onto her other side, and sighed. She always slept in late, with her humans leaving her breakfast in her food bowl before they left. Grunting, Ginger stretched out her front paws first, then her rear paws.
