dog
It's no coincidence that a dog is a man's best friend; they're more faithful than most other animals, and more faithful than many people.
Life With Bailey
Bailey - in a hotel on one of our many adventures! Bailey was the best dog. Ever. I think everyone says that about their dog. It's hard to think of just one story he and I had together. I lived my life always looking for the next adventure, so we moved a lot. He always adjusted so well. This dog was unlike any other, and boy was he smart. In fact, he was smarter than some people I know! But I'm getting ahead of myself.

My Hairy Hero
I’ll never forget the first day I met my best friend. It was a freezing cold winter night. Momma entered the house with a large cardboard box. I could hear faint cries and tiny paws scurrying around inside the box. Momma strolled over to me and lowered the box for me to see. It was like love at first sight when the pup and I made eye contact. He was a baby pit bull with a gold Cuban link chain around his neck. I immediately named him Scooby because of my love for the cartoon, and the sub-species.

The tale of a deer
We wanted a dog. We VERY much wanted a dog. We actually bought a house and moved across the country in large part because we wanted a dog. There were other factors that played into that decision, of course, but the desire to have a dog in our life was at the top of the ‘pros’ section of the pros and cons list for making that decision.

How I Know I Can Be a Mother. Top Story - February 2022.
I have always struggled with the idea of being a mother. The idea of being responsible for the life of another being. Making sure they’re fed. Bathed. Clothed. Getting enough sleep. Entertained. Happy. I feel like I’m barely capable of managing those basic needs for myself.

Licking The Wounds Only A Dog Can Salve
Dogs have an interesting and storied history, both outside of, and including humans. Domesticated dogs as we know them today may bare little to no resemblance to their wolf or jackal ancestors but their important role in the fate of men has remained steadfast throughout the centuries.

Mickey
Looking back on that entire three-week period of the summer of 2015, it seems clearer now that I was always going to be the one to take Mickey to the island myself. It would be too cliché, of course, to say that “I needed him more than he needed me.” But, in a broader sense, both of our lives at that point complemented each other’s in enough ways that anyone else would have been redundant.
