Heidi and the Rainbow Bridge
Our cat, Heidi, was an unrelenting warrior dressed in a cat’s body. A Richmond SPCA rescue, Heidi was a stray found wandering the streets. My daughter adopted her because she had this affectionate head butting when she greeted you. How sweet. When she came home, what I met was a scrawny little creature that I thought maybe I could love with time. After all, she was my daughter’s cat. But she had a special affection for me and would curl up under my chair every day while I worked.

The Amazing Pangolin
This is an animal that has an armored shell and a peculiar gait. It appears to be ready to start a medieval battle. Unfortunately for this poor creature, it has become the most trafficked animal on the earth even though it is illegal to trade with it in South Asia. The sales now account for up to 20% of the entire wildlife black market.

Petgreens have triple benefits for felines
House cats can be amazing pets but if they never go outdoors, they miss several important benefits of the outside world. They are not partaking of the fresh air, sunshine, and exercise that are enjoyed by felines who can live and or play outside of a house. There are 3 community cats in my neighborhood who are orange, black, and gray. For the past 3 years I’ve watched them being fed by neighbors, sleeping on my back porch, going back and forth between houses, and roaming the streets. They walk, run, climb trees and play and most importantly eat grass.

Mistique
Mistique, Misty for short, is a husky mix that we kind of adopted by accident. About four years ago my ex and I decided we were going to go to the local shelter looking for a dog. We had looked online before our visit, but seeing as we had another dog had to do an in person meeting to make sure that everything clicked. Before my then boyfriend had moved in with me and my roommates, he had a full husky who true to nature was especially derpy but had needed to rehome him before coming to live with us. For that reason he had told himself that he wasn't going to get another husky because it felt a little like betrayal. One of the big things with us searching for a dog was that would act as a PTSD service animal for my ex. The natural level of energy for huskies is another reason that we went with the thought that we were looking for a different breed. It was a little bit biased but we also knew that we didn't have the space or free time to be fair to a large high energy dog.

Sweetie
Sweetie A Fitting Name And A For Ever Home By Roberto Alago Loud noises can be traumatic for dogs. Thunder and Fireworks can scare them so much, that the poor things just run away from their homes and their loved ones. That is how we came to meet Sweetie; one of the sweetest, gentler dogs I have ever met. Believe me, I know dogs. I've been around dogs all my life and being married to an animal lover, has made dog rescuing a routine in our lives. So, let me tell you about sweetie and how ours came to be her forever home.

He Was My Teddy
I live in the outskirts of Kashmir but for my education I shifted to Srinagar city. I took my admission in a well reputed Institute of valley and I was very satisfied with my progress. It was my 3rd month in the city and I had already planned many resolutions for the year 2020. In March 2020, I had planned to start a Youth club for those teenagers who are involved in drugs and addiction. For this project me and my team were ready to start awareness programs all across the valley. Our first awareness program was on 07 March 2020 at Public park Shopian. Everything was set up and well planned.

His Forever Home
They were getting a divorce. It was so final and so sudden that I could hardly believe it, but I knew the back story. I knew about the fights that led up to this, and if I was really honest, I knew they would be better people apart from each other. But what really made my heart ache was the knowledge that their new 18-week old puppy would be torn from their home so soon after meeting them. You think children don’t understand why divorces happen; try being a happy, energetic puppy who thought he just met his new best friends.

Who Rescued Who?
The animal rescues in the city were extremely particular. It seemed that if you were not a homeowner, a couple, or had a fenced-in backyard it was nearly impossible to be a forever home to any of their sweet, furry loves. I was in my late twenties with an excruciating love for animals developed in childhood, lived with two roommates in a townhouse without a fenced-in yard, and never owned any pets though I always had the desire.

A late Christmas present
Every person knows of all the cute stories about the puppies or kittens wrapped nicely up for Christmas morning. For many this is the greatest holiday treat. Giant smiles are found on every child who receives a new animal as a gift. Normally the kid or kids have begged for months before hand. Maybe they saw the tiny kitten at the store or a cute new dog at a friend or families house. Whatever the reasoning there has been hundreds of pleases and promises by the children prior to the actual gift giving. New parents often make the mistake though that the child that still can't tie their laces or get themselves off to school, will take care of their own baby.

Covid Kitty
I have been transferring my Cat stories to vocal since I joined a few weeks ago. The stories are of cats that have owned me, ( you do not own a cat, they choose and own you, people who live with cats will agree with this), and others I know. Some are funny, some tragic, and some like this remind you that sometimes good comes from bad.
