A rough morning,
There are moments in time that escape us and our memories as the days fall away, every once in a while, there are moments that take shape breathe and live vividly forever. The moment I first saw my furry friend I knew he something was different. Not just because of the unusual circumstances that predisposed my seeing him. It was his stunningly unique behavior that eclipsed all the stress of that day.

Dogs Are the Most Faithful and Consistent of All Our Companions
I didn’t want to wake up. I could ignore Scruffy nudging me with her nose, but the leg kicking my belly was persistent. I groaned and rolled over. The bed was wet. I turned on the light as Scruffy’s first puppy made its entrance into the world.

Loyal Companions
Every now and then, Facebook will pop up a memory of our two lovely ladies and I’ll have to pause and remember them. Buying two rescue dogs was the best decision our family could have made, and the memories we have are good, even with the bittersweet tang of their loss.

My Fosters
My heart had not been full since making the hardest decision and giving up my dog. Had I know I would be moving in with my boyfriend only a month into the future I would have been able to keep him. I still know it was the right decision and am okay, especially since I get to see him on Facebook all the time, his new dad is great and shares his journeys daily!

Iago's Origin Story
During the summer of 1996, I lived in Murfreesboro, TN. I was engaged to a guy that didn't really put me first, and ended up being abusive. Fortunately, I was subletting an apartment from local college students. Even though I was engaged, I wasn't included in get-togethers with his friends. I didn't know anyone, and couldn't really make friends while I was there. I was lonely.

A Short Guide on Keeping a Chinchilla
The cage These are the cages made by my husband for our two chinchillas. The pet might be small (average weight is about one pound), but it needs a lot of space. A good cage should contain everything your pet needs: a wheel, a hammock, several levels of shelves, a hayloft, a small wooden house, a feeder, a drinking bowl, chalk, salt, and toys to chew on. If you buy something for the house, avoid plastics. Opt for wood: The beast will smash it but at least it will not be poisoned by it.

Xena, Warrior Princess
Honeysuckle stared out of her cage at the people milling around the room lined with cages exactly like hers. Her ears flattened. She moved back into the corner of the cage and turned her back when the cage door was opened. This happened daily when her water bowl was refilled and the litter box scooped. She was shocked when hands lifted her and pulled her backwards out of the cage. Her claws extended on all four paws and flailed at the air. She was dropped in another cage. This one was lifted off the floor and carried out of the room. Honeysuckle hunkered down and watched the cage door, ears, whiskers and attention on high alert. She knew from experience that being moved could be a seriously dangerous event.
