About 5 years ago, we adopted a dog. She is a timid, yet sweet old fart, but her puppy came out after she warmed up to us. Her coat, although graying in spots, is a beautiful dark gold. Heck, she looks like a fox in dog form. Even down to the fluffy tail. Which is the main reason she’s named foxie, Not mini Millie, that was the name she had before we got her.

My Grandfathers Cat
In the 1920's my Grandfather had a store in the town of Succasunna NJ. (I will not go into how the Drill Sergeants, in basic training, had fun with that town name.) Grandfathers name was, Raymond Bull. (I will not now go into how that name created interesting situations when trekking in Northern India / Gopeshwar. Nor try to explain why I, a person with obvious ADD, would try to write stories.. but I digress.)

The Why If you were to ask me how we started this hobby of massaging the bellies of Western Fence lizards, (better known as the Blue Belly lizard) I wouldn't know what to say. Catching lizards has always been a favorite pastime for my husband and I. We live in the largest Ponderosa Pine forest in the world. Thousands of acres of Coniferous forest stretch the horizon, covering mountains and grassy hillsides. Within these forests life of all kinds teems; Steller's jays sing in the sky, squirrels dance around the base of trees, and lizards sunbathe on any suitable surface they can find.
