What Do Your Actions Reveal About You As A Leader?

Thoughts From The Words Of King Arthur

By Dr. Cody Dakota Wooten, DFM, DHM, DAS (hc)Published 10 months ago 3 min read

There is something that I often like to say...

Words are Cheap.

The reason that I say this is because I have met many people over the years who talk about many things...

Building a Business.

Becoming Better Leaders.

Caring About Others.

Improving the World.

Yet, when I Look at the Actions of Many of these Individuals...

Those Actions Prove Otherwise.

They put No Time into Building a Business.

They Do Nothing to Improve as a Leader.

They Show Little to No Caring for the Humans Around Them.

They are Actively Doing Nothing to Truly Improve the World.

Their Words are Cheap.

Their Actions Reveal Their Words are False.

Lies.

Dishonest.

Something I Tend to Tell People is...

Show Me.

Show Me How You Are Accomplishing What You Say.

Show Me What You Are Doing.

Yesterday, I watched the Movie "King Arthur" (2004), a favorite of mine when I was younger.

In the Movie, King Arthur said something that made me pause and think...

"Deeds themselves are useless unless they are for some higher purpose."

I often think about the Words we say, but what King Arthur is saying here is frequently also True.

Often, our Actions are Cheap Too.

We can use Marketing as an Example Here.

Do you Know how many Emails I Get Daily that are Businesses Marketing to me for One Thing or Another?

I honestly Do Not Know because I have Lost Count.

Do you Know How Many I Respond To?

Less than 1% of them.

Why?

The Email they Send is Clearly a Template that they have used with countless other people.

It is Cold and Impersonal.

They Reveal that they Know Nothing about Me, How My Business Works, or My Goals.

They are Acting, but their Actions are Cheap.

They are Showing Me that their Actions are Guided to One Purpose.

Profit for Themselves.

Not for Truly Aiding My Business, and Not for Improving the World.

It is a Lowly and Selfish Purpose.

They have taken the Least Amount of Time to Flag Me as a "Potential Customer".

Then, they spent the Least Amount of Time to Send a Message.

These Deeds are Useless.

But they are Not Alone.

I look at the Many Leaders in Today's Business Landscape.

What do their Actions Reveal?

The Reveal They are Running Zombie Businesses contributing to the Rot Economy.

Instead of Products and Services that Contribute to a Higher Cause...

Like Helping Humans Live Better Lives...

They create Products with Cheaper Materials, Purposefully.

It has a pretty sounding name, too - Planned Obsolescence.

It means that it is Designed Cheaply to Break, on Purpose, to push you to Spend More Money.

They use Addiction Tactics to Compulsively Use and Buy Things to Our Detriment.

Depending on the type of product or service, both Physical and Emotional Addictions are Utilized to Hijack our Psychophysiology.

They do Mass Layoffs specifically to Boost Profit Numbers, Revealing they Care Nothing about the Potential of the Humans they Employ.

All while Attempting to Hide the Reality of their Complete and Utter Failures as Leaders.

Simultaneously, they Knowingly Push the Humans they Employ to the Breaking Point, known as Burnout, with No Care for the Consequences to the Health, Wellness, and Wellbeing of those Employees.

Over 80% of Employees are in Burnout.

Some, as young as their 20s, are being Medically Diagnosed as "Literally" Dying from Burnout.

When I look at All of These Things...

Not Only are these Leaders' Words Hollow...

But their Deeds are Useless.

Putrid.

Corrupt.

Rotting.

We Deserve Better.

If We Are To Change The World, We Must Pay Attention To What Our Actions Reveal.

Are Our Deeds Useless?

Or Are We Serving A Truly Higher Purpose In Our Deeds?

I do not know why business used email to try to grab your attention when Ads are the best way to attract attention. I work for a company for ten years . They try to win you over by words they are compassionate about their employees but in truth, the profit and getting government funding is their bottom line. After Covid a lot of businesses prevail their true colors

The business world has changed for the worse rather than for the better, despite what some of their leaders say or want to make us believe.

  • Yes those businesses only care about their profits. Low quality products that have such high prices. I'm speechless

  • I agree with your article 100 %
