How to heal fully and properly.
The Feelings You Wanted Me to Feel.
All my life you raised me one way. One very specific way. With certain ideals, certain beliefs. Telling me that if I challenged or strayed from those that I was wrong. That I was lost. That I was confused. That I had fallen off the path. That is wasn’t the way things were supposed to be or how I was supposed to be. That it wasn’t “right.”

Quarantine Life
Well this has been an experience unlike anything that we have experienced before... Quarantine life is not what we expected. There is many people that want to leave their houses, people that are in need of some "normal" back in to their lives, but what will normal look like after quarantine?

Finding purpose, in the kitchen
What do you do, when you don't know what to do? Well, that's relatively easy. You do something, anything; twiddle your fingers, tap your toes, turn on some music and sing/dance along. The real goal is to find a way to channel that restless energy and use it to get your metaphorical engine (Or actual engine, if that's your thing) started.

Face Your Demons or They Will Face You...
I am naturally introverted... and according to my mother, I have been since I was a child. I don't really remember these days but what I do remember is not wanting to be bothered with friends outside of school or sports. Writing stories in my journals that no one would ever have the privilege to see or read. I was outgoing but I wasn't. I was social but I wasn't. My mom was forced to get a second line in the house because of my sister...she was born with a phone attached to her earlobe, now I can barely get her to call me back. I didn't like the phone much and I am still partial to face to face conversations.

A letter I wish I Could've wrote to Myself
Hello D, Its me, Deon. I need you to stop right now, and I need you to breathe. Please, I know its hard, but trust me it helps. I’m 5 years ahead, its almost our birthday, today is May 3rd, 2020. I am not going to bullshit you though; the next 5 years are going to be hard. They are going to push you to limits you did not even know you had. They are going to tear you down and you are going to think that you can not get back up. Just like right now D, but hang in there, you will. You are stronger than you know, and we are going to turn out stronger than we could ever imagine.

Destination: A Kinder World
There's a place I've been wanting to visit for quite awhile. There won't be any strangers there because everyone you meet will become a friend. No car horns will be honking because patience will be plentiful. Derogatory names won't be used as words will be filtered through a veil of compassion, and people would rather sit and talk awhile than to waste precious energy and time arguing about something that won't matter in twenty years.

Food and the Glorious Fury
So this is an essay that I wrote some time ago but something about it has always stuck with me and I can't quite shake how it feels to read it after all this time. It was an assignment given to me in High school by my English Teacher, and it became so personal that I never really got rid of it. So, here it is for the world, or a small part of it ...

Rose-Colored Glasses
Hard days pass and good ones do too, It all comes down to perceptive and views. Where thoughts are meant to be challenged, feelings are meant to be examined and behaviors are meant to be changed. When the hard days come again, you feel it like a sudden pang in your chest, coming from nowhere. It’s so painful it feels as if your world cannot go on, ending so quick and sudden. You feel the need to grasp the chest because the heart lay there cold and abandoned.

Things You Must Do When Your World Is Falling apart
Life isn’t easy, and sometimes we may encounter situations where we feel like our world is ending. Have you been fired from your dream job before? Have you failed an important exam at school? Have you broken up with the love of your life? Have you been cheated on by your partner?

Social Distancing 101: Mindfully Doing
Life has certainly slowed down for many people. With a rapidly spreading virus rampant all over the world, we all have been given more time—perhaps more than we bargained for—to spend with our loved ones, learn new skills, or complete tasks we would otherwise be putting off until an eventual tomorrow. But it's also given us more time with our thoughts.
