A palace by the sea
Janice knew this was going to be the last time she seen this familiar view. For the last 17 years, she had watched almost every single sunset from this point. Her entire childhood was tucked away in corners of the house. The crook of the trees. The path down to the beach. Particularly, in the stretch of shore that had been her playhouse for as far back as she could remember. Every happy moment, every milestone. Her birthday parties, holiday gatherings, and most recently, a graduation party. Even her first kiss had been here, in the dying embers of the setting sun. All so cozy and happy. That was before the diagnosis. This place now held the sad tinge of descent. The decline of the one true rock in her life had been heartbreaking. It had happened so suddenly that it was hard to recall the shock of finding out that time was limited through the pain of knowing it was already gone. She would have to move on now. But how? How was she supposed to be away from the sea, these memories, these sunsets? Away from everything she ever knew? Reaching around with her arms to hold herself, she cried softly into the darkening night, breathing in the salty air. How could her whole life become a memory?? The last of the light was seeping down the edge of the horizon, as if it, too, was saying goodbye. The crash of the waves seemed to be calling to her father, beckoning him, confused as to why he hadn’t come. This time, it was just her, and it would have to be enough. She headed down the path towards the water.

Letter to Me
Dear Me, A little over one year ago, you were pregnant, diabetic, and anxious as all Hell. You were about to bring a fragile, new life into this insane world. You live hours away from home, where all of your family is, and, unknown to you, the next year is going to be the hardest of your life.

If a root is damaged will it ever bloom?
This was an important walk for me, the sky was as dense as my thoughts that followed me, I wish as a shadow but they were just as rooted in me as my feet were in the snow and as deep as the roots of the tree I was gazing at. The warmth of my breath reaches the coldness of the air, they say the two cause thunder, yet as I stand here watching snowflakes weigh down the branches of the tree and I hear… absolutely nothing. As I looked at the tree I thought, winter has cast down on me to. Neither of us want the heaviness and harshness of it, but in life choices are taken from us. If a root is damaged will it ever flower?

I Chose Me!
Surrounded by the Darkness of the mind. I unlocked the chains that were no longer holding me down as if I were rooted like trees that stem to show life’s growing process. I Am Free! The consistency of the greenlight that glitched from the screen in which I’ve stood most of my life has gone blank. It felt as if I was reconnected back to life. I just didn’t know the women I’ve grown to be. I was stuck for so long, not moving; Living the same life everyone else was. Programmed to live a certain way because it was comfortable and seemed right. I knew when I felt myself pulling away from the screen when it was on life was not what they said it was; nor was it, what I was seeing. The more I pulled away. The more it kept sucking me back in, as the vacuum I was conditioned to push as being disciplined and having matters of respect. Life has been an order and when I stopped and fail out of line. I broke that order and was replaced with the snap of a finger, the blink of an eye. I had to figure what I like doing, who I liked being around, understanding what the wind that whooshed from others meant? I now know that’s energy. It comes in high or low. Energy can be dangerous and if you don’t gain control of the way you use it or how you're affected by it. You’re giving up on yourself and should go stand back in that matrix. But if you do decide to fight. You could end up walking into your heaven. I AM!

The Glow Man
1994. Nashville, Tennessee. Downtown. City Lights Arts and Music Festival. The streets were packed as the evening crowd ambled down Union Street. On both sides were t-shirt vendors and craft tables, a magician and a fire-breathing juggler. The intoxicating bouquet of barbeque chicken permeated the sticky air and overwhelmed my olfactory system as it moistened my tongue.

The Story Of L❤️ve
I feel life should be lived through rose colored glasses. Everything in life should be about love. Self-love, human love, creator love, and just the Love of life itself. When you’re in tune to Love; things in your life will change for the better. You don’t know the value of Love until you use the currency to pay your way through life. As humans we use the word “LOVE” very loosely, But choose not to live to actual Love. Everyone has flaws; So why expect anyone to be perfect. “I asked my grandmother the secret to the longevity of her marriage” She told me ( It’s how many of the other persons flaws you are willing to deal with). Now I consider that a form of Love. Because it’s true; to be able to deal with someone else flaws for more than fifty years is a task. But one you would have to be willing to take in order for it to work. Today many people find themselves looking for an easy way out, so divorce is very high. All because Love isn’t involved in the actual Vows. Knowing what you want in a relationship is the first step. And when the only version of Self you have is the opinion of others you have no idea how to Love Self. So loving someone else is impossible. Remember you heard it here first. LOVE SELF,SO YOU CAN LOVE SOMEONE ELSE!

Life, Love and Loss
She couldn’t understand what was happening. It was all moving too fast. One minute her sister was here, the next, she wasn’t. She couldn’t process it all. It happened. She knows it did. But it’s been three months and it felt like she could walk in, in the physical, at any moment. She felt like every thing that she knew to be true was false and that her mind was playing tricks on her. She turned 31 this past Spring and her sister would have been 24 in the middle of August. She thought ahead to the future as she always did. She racked her brain to find images of her sister in one of the pictures but she was nowhere to be found. She envisioned all the great things to come, as she naturally always had, and those great times were missing a very huge piece of the puzzle, and they hadn’t even happened yet. Shaking her head to clear the coming tears she could feel the anger creeping up. Sitting in her living room, she looked over to her mantle that held the midsized figurine that her uncle had given her before he passed.

The Day My Body Betrayed Me
The crowd was silent. All you could hear was the buzz of anticipation as the bull fighter stood perfectly still. He steadied his red cape and prepared to begin his dance. Slow graceful steps followed as he waited for the bull to proceed in what it wanted to do.
