Finding Hapiness
Living in a small town can be pretty boring sometimes. Whether it be walking the same roads and bike trails or visiting the same old restaurant you've been going to for years. Seeing the same people everyday at the local gas station so much they know you by your name can sometimes make you feel you may never really leave that town and if you do you may find yourself walking back down that street you grew up on a few years down the road looking to purchase a house. It can be scary to think there is a chance you may never really experience life to it's fullest if you stay around in one place. Stopping to realize there is some beauty to that town your so scared to be stuck in can change the way you think, not only about the town but life in general. Hi I'm Brian and for 25 years I've been in the same town and have caught myself feeling stuck here. It takes nights like these for me to remember that there are good things about being here. This local quarry where we go to swim and have some summer fun really does wonders when you just need to let go and relax. The dusty air from people burning out in their jeeps to the high cliffs you jump from to feel a sense of being alive all tie into what makes this place such a beautiful spot. Sometimes to bring people together all you need is to drive down that dirt road and have a chat with a bunch of strangers. We all feel like we can be lost sometimes and feel that nothing will ever change, but if you go down this dirt road there are people waiting there to let you know your not alone in feeling that way and you can talk about your dreams and goals over a few cold ones with the other lost. One day you will look back and realize you were not as lost as you once felt and that things can change so quickly you don't even notice them changing. You may actually want to go back and visit that place you once felt stuck in because you wish you could have it all back. The simple times flying down the dirt roads listening to your favourite songs with your favourite people. We tend to loose sight of what is truly important trying to chase a false sense of happiness. "I need to buy that big house with the big backyard. I need to make so much money that I can buy anything I want to make me happy. You ever seen a sad person on a big boat? Ya me either so don't tell me money can't buy happiness" We tend to loose our selfs in these dreams we make up in our heads because society says that is what will make us happy. In doing so we tend to let magical moments like these slip through cracks of our fingertips to be lost in the false sense of security that has been tattooed into our brains by the bougie and fabulous things we see in our media. Looking out at the crowd of people I see before me while attending a social gathering at this amazing place reminds me that. Maybe, just maybe. There is happiness to be found beyond the things we feel we need to reach if we just open our eyes to see what is right in front of us. So drive down that dirt road, blast some music, and most importantly have fun! We all end up in the same place at the end.

Happiness is of the mind. Happiness is a choice.
What is happiness? Happiness is being in a state of joy, contentment, and having positive emotions. It's also said that happiness reflects on how good the individual in question feels about life. Yet, in today's depression is on raise with youth having a constant feeling of sadness, emptiness, and even question the purpose of life.

Living my best life
How do you live through a pandemic? How do you live each day missing your family and proceed to live? It is not easy, but I make a conscious effort to rise each day and live my best life! First I rise early go for a 30 minute walk return home prepare a nice breakfast. I turn into something uplifting like Disney+ ! Since I’m in the high-risk group over 60 with underlying medical condition I have stopped working, too many people not obeying the wear your mask and I have decided I want to be here to see my grandchildren grow up. So, I can see them again after this war on the world. This week I was afforded a sneak peek into Disney as a passholder, it was great to be out it was great to see what Disney is doing to keep me safe! It was great to be in my happy place. My sister and I went together and even though we don’t live together we do a little social distancing even when we are strolling through Disney! Lunch was At the Flame Tree bbq restaurant- I had chicken, baked beans, slaw and the most amazing cream cheese cupcake! Back to my day, I make sure to get out of my chair every 60 minutes even if I’m just walking around the house. I go outside and check on my rosebushes, breathe the fresh air, take out the trash, take out the recyclables and then I come back and sit down with my iPad play a few games of bingo, words with friends or spades with Dwyane Wade. I’m keeping up with my binge watching I started with Eureka and now I’m onto Warrior Nun in between I rewatch the latest version of Jumangi! I love to laugh and Jumangi is funny. After lunch and dinner I put on my walking tape and get some walking aerobics in then back to my chair back to my TV . Before bed I pray, I pray for myself, I pray for my family. I pray for this world and when will get a handle on what’s attacking us right now so things will go back to some sense of normalcy. I long for my family, I long for hugs for my grandchildren and my children and I long to interact with my friends but I won’t let it get me down! I have a part-time business that affords me the opportunity to Conduct Facebook parties and zoom parties. I get on my zoom meetings with my team and I interact with friends and customers on Facebook. Some things are set in stone and some are off the cuff but everything combined keeps me waking up each day with a purpose. Many of the streaming services have stepped up their game! To keep my sanity I watched educational programs like National Geographic’s draining the oceans, which uncovers amazing history underwater. Then I move onto the cosmos which I found both on Disney+. We added Apple TV today and I was able to experience Greyhound with Tom Hanks and begin Defending Jacob. Another way I get fresh without walking is take out. I look forward to treating myself to not cooking a few times a week! My purpose is to live my life in the best way I can With a plan and a grateful heart!

The Truth About Happiness
You're finally at a happy place in your life, so now what? After fighting personal battles, going through storms to seek peace, and repeatedly failing to discover your strengths and purpose in life, you are finally satisfied with who and where you are in life. Our happiness may seem like the ultimate goal in our lives and will eventually appear as the ultimate accomplishment in our lives. However, I want to let you know that this is not the case. We all need to realize that the life we live is not all about us, especially when it comes to our happiness because the happiness we struggle to find is the door that allows others to experience this same breakthrough. Now whether you were aware of this idea or not, it makes sense that we think in this way because we are taught by society that the key to our happiness is a one-sided process revolved around ourselves. Society teaches us to focus on ourselves and what's best to eliminate distractions and negative influences that disrupt the path to becoming the best version of ourselves. Some of us haven’t learned that happiness also comes from the satisfaction we receive from our selfless actions. And while a part of this happiness comes from our inner being rather than the opinion from others, we eventually begin to feel empty if our happiness doesn't impact others. Now the society we live in today follows that same one-sided idea and does not fulfill the exact criteria of seeking happiness: using our strength and kindness from our self-discovery to help carry others' burdens who struggle to be happy. I believe we sometimes fall short of the criteria because we may lack self-love, which is the part of discovering happiness that is solely about us. We also get into the habit of believing that placing others before ourselves is too much work or something we don't have time for, which also holds us back from dedicating a part of our lives to the struggles of others.

Time to slow down
Forcing ourselves to stop more often, to do fewer things, to think more calmly. All of this, in favor of a healthier and happier life. Being slow, doing less, being calmer is often understood as a synonym for laziness or low productivity. But it is not at all the same.

A New Chapter
The realisation that life goes on is scary. In theory, everyone knows that the clock always ticks and that our lives on this Earth are not eternal - but the heart doesn’t always know what the head understands. It didn’t quite hit me until recently when I found a moment, a picture perfect second, where I wanted time to stop.

And Introducing Myra Hotchkiss
I was a very shy girl. That never changed as I grew older. It doesn't seem fair, does it? We all want to be Roxie Hart or any actress on Glee, stunning looking and with several cups of overflowing talent. Well, the talent is there, but it's for a keyboard, not singing or acting. Ah, well, we make the best of the gifts we're given.

Freedom
What does Freedom mean to you? To me it's the flag waving proudly next to my porch. My porch to the home where I bought a few years back. Freedom is working hard to get to a place, where my parents never got, no matter how many jobs they both worked. Freedom is showing pride in the work that we do, to get the things that we want.
