Our family are precious, our job is precious, our income is precious, our house is precious, our friends are precious, our health is precious, our possessions are precious, but apart from being granted with the blessing of life itself, the most precious blessing we have in life, is time. Time provides us with fond memories of our past, but it also provides us the opportunity to make more memories in the future. The value of time is worth more than any amount of money in the world, as without time, money would be worthless. The problem is, most people overlook the importance and value of time, instead focusing on other less important factors of life, such as money, their job, and Netflix. We can always obtain more money, we will always have plenty more opportunities to find another job or a different line of work, and we will always have ample television and movies to watch, but what we don't have the opportunity to get more of, is time. In fact, as each second, each minute, and each hour, ticks by, we bid farewell to another moment of time, that we cannot get back. On reflection, one of the biggest regrets I have, is not valuing the time I had in the past. I think of all the opportunities I missed, that I could have spent more time with my parents, whilst they were actually still alive. I think of all those wonderful moments of fun, laughter, and enjoyment, with my friends, where I was too caught up with living in the moment, rather than truly appreciating such moments of time. I think about all the time I flittered away on non-productive activities, where I could have been better designing my future. Time wasted!
In our adolescence and young adulthood, we do not consider for one moment, how precious time really is. We seem to believe that we are invincible, that we will live forever, that our parents, friends, and loved ones will always be around, and that we have plenty of time to sort out our life, just as long as we are having fun at the time. One thing time certainly does though, is make us all the more wiser. We soon realize how precious time really is. Like me, many of us reach middle age, wondering where the years have gone, wishing we had our time over, so we could go back and do things differently, spend more time with those we love, and do more of what we enjoy. One of the biggest regrets people have, in reaching their death bed, is they wish they spent less time working, and more time spent with those they love, and doing things they wished they should have done whilst they had the chance. Once a moment has passed however, it's gone forever. It's beyond our control. What's also beyond our control, is the amount of time we have to live. Every single one of us are on borrowed time, a ticking time bomb, as it were. We don't have the privilege of knowing when our time is up, and when our life must come to an end. If we had such insight, guaranteed, many of us would live our lives in a totally different manner. We would seize more opportunities, we would take more risks, we spend more time doing what we enjoy, and we would spend more time with those we love. Just because we don't have that insight though, with the potential that today could possibly end up being our last day alive, why aren't we adopting that same mindset? Why aren't we making use of the time we have? Why are we spending countless hours working a job we hate, when we could be spending that time working a job or a running a business, doing something we love? Why are we spending numerous hours on the couch, with our eyes transfixed on the television screen, when we could be using the time to be working towards our goals, and creating a future of our desire? Why are we spending hours and hours browsing through social media, and staring at our phone, when we could be seizing the moment to be spending more quality time with our parents, our partner, our children, and our friends, conversing, laughing, and relishing the moments we have in their company?
Don't waste a single minute being unhappy, being angry, being sad, being resentful, and being unproductive, when time is granting you the opportunity to be happy, successful, positive, generous, kind, productive, and proactive. Stop wasting time! Stop sacrificing precious moments choosing to be negative, unhappy, and angry, when you could be using such moments to be telling someone that you love them, that you could be doing something you enjoy, and that you could be working on creating an amazing and successful future for yourself. Time is so precious and valuable, so make every moment count! Treasure those you love, do more of what you enjoy, strive for your goals, and live every moment like it's your last.
