happiness
Happiness, defined; things that help you find happiness, keep it, and share it with others.
bury me with my to-do list
My self-worth use to be tied to everything I did, I was a student, I was working two jobs. I was saving money. I was doing so many things, yet I never had time for the things that I would always dream about. “When I retire…” I would think, yet I was 21 and retirement was many years off. I had a plan and I was going to stick to it, and gosh darn it, I would be successful. This amount of busy caused me to lose relationships that mattered, to prioritize others that really shouldn’t have mattered. I was losing everything I was taught to be, and instead of building myself into an ideal that I had no desire of actually being. As if to be successful in life I had to make sure I was everything the media portrays. I was rushing straight towards a life I wasn’t going to be able to escape. I was lost and without a way out, and it took its toll on me and my health.

Mind and Soul Spring Cleaning
The sun is such a magnificent star. The way it connects with us, and our planet is why I believe in magic. All winter we try to fill the void amid the gloomy sky above. We don’t even realize it until we begin to feel exhausted from the dreary season. We long for that bit of warmth shining down on our faces as we stand outside. The sun playing peekaboo through the clouds. It has power over us and relieves us of our cramped minds. Like cluttered damp cupboards being opened up to the light for the first time in a while.

How to Make a Mess
I've judged myself for the ways I don't measure up. I know the best practices for being a functioning adult human. They involve apps, calendar reminders, gallon-sized water bottles, getting up early, and working out in the morning. Find the life hacks that will help you squeeze yourself into the right box.

Let the Planners Collect Dust
Spring forward. Productivity. Habits. Long-term success. The words swim through the recesses of my brain. A barely used planner sits in a pile on the floor. Sticky notes with reminders of things "to do" litter my desk. I have avoided my office for three days now. I placed paperwork on my desk, and told myself I can't use it until I finish it. My solution: use every other clean surface, just so I will not have to complete the forms waiting for me.

Subjective Sensibilities
The space you inhabit is a crystallization of your being - a reflection of your state of mind. As the space gets out of hand, so do you. If you don't like it, how can you expect to like yourself? If you don't like yourself, how can you expect others to like you? If you want to improve yourself, start with your room. Be sure it fits to the way you intend to live your life. Keep in mind, however, that mess is not necessarily equivalent to clutter. There are people who flourish in places others may deem as disarray and people who may thrive only in places considered clean. Do not listen to what others want you to be - listen to you. Not everyone is for everyone, not everything for everyone. The art of Feng Shui is subjective. Dance your own dance. This may cause strife among others but as long as you identify these issues as places and times to understand, to learn, and to grow, you can expand the shell of your life to accommodate a more spacious existence. It may be difficult, but some letting go is inevitable. It's part of the process. Do not hold yourself down, or pin yourself to the expectations of others, there is no sense in this. The only worthwhile way forward is the one you carve yourself. The most beautiful path is the one you forge on your own. The ones who love you for who you are will recognize themselves in you. You will not have to force anything, the effort will subside and the results will efface themselves.

How to be Alone
All week I've been thinking about what it takes to be alone. I've seen people who are marvelous at it, able to enter a relationship with even their darkest of shadows, and people who are perpetually running from themselves through addictions, distractions, and dramas. They are never able to connect deeply with others because they can't do it with themselves. You'd think we'd all be masters a year into a pandemic, but living alone is not the same as being alone.

Turning the Page on Winter
I love Winter, particularly in my home state of Massachusetts. Winter gives us permission to stay home, to hibernate, to read every book on the nightstand, to binge-watch Netflix. I feel stylish because I wear leggings now, not sweatpants. Covid-19 has added its weighty presence to Winter and has had us doubling down on the premise that there is no place like home. We have comforted ourselves with new home-centric hobbies, like learning how to bake sourdough bread (not as easy as you may think) and by banishing canned soup from the pantry. There is therapeutic value to using your wooden spoon to stir the latest batch of butternut squash soup, to feel righteous about the nutritional value and to savor the new skill. There is an abundance of knitting/crochet projects across the country right now; perhaps they will be pulled out again next year and an army of sofa throws will eventually be used while reading the next batch of books and watching next year’s must-watch series. Conceived during the difficulties of Covid-19, we will begin to view these acquired skills and goods as Badges of Honor, representing our survival.

Spring Equinox
The Spring Equinox is a time of a time of rebirth and balance. Equinoxes occur when the sun crosses the equator when day and night are at equal lengths. A time when push and pull of light and dark are at perfect balance with the Earth’s tilt. It’s a beginning of a new cycle. Just as our Earth completes cycles of death and rebirth through out the year, so do we, some physical and some psychological, emotional and mental. We go through times of great productivity and of rest and restoration.

Understanding The Own Perspective in Life
Having a “life” is not just having a purpose on how to live with it. Most of us are seeking for a purpose/purposes of how to live their lives. I used to think the same way to be honest, but I got to the point of my life that I realized that every person's life is very different from one another. Maybe some have similarities but are different in a way that everyone has their own time of how a person blooms and grows its own self. Some are lucky to have it all at an early age, while some are still struggling to achieve whatever they desire to have in life that they think they need or want.

How to Organize Yourself to Happiness
I love to clean! I was born under the sun sign Virgo, and like my chart implies tidiness, order, and trying to achieve perfection have been running themes throughout my life. The pleasure center of my brain is truly stimulated by newly vacuumed lines running across a clean carpet; it's okay, you can laugh. The term "neat-freak" has always registered in my brain as a compliment not an insult, and I tend to find peace and solace in creating and maintaining a clutter-free lifestyle.
