Mind and Soul Spring Cleaning

How Grounding and Centering Yourself Creates New Beginnings

The sun is such a magnificent star. The way it connects with us, and our planet is why I believe in magic. All winter we try to fill the void amid the gloomy sky above. We don’t even realize it until we begin to feel exhausted from the dreary season. We long for that bit of warmth shining down on our faces as we stand outside. The sun playing peekaboo through the clouds. It has power over us and relieves us of our cramped minds. Like cluttered damp cupboards being opened up to the light for the first time in a while.

When Spring finally comes to visit, I urge you to go outside. Be friends with the sun. Don’t wear shoes, and let yourself feel the soles of your feet connecting to the Earth below. Feel the primordial flow of the Earth’s electrons through you. Remind yourself that you are nature. You are far more than what you have experienced and believe. You share the same oxygen with the vegetation around you. You share the same sun that shines upon you. None of your worries matter, as you are the pureness of nature.

Once you begin to remind yourself of this, your worries begin to fade. Your mind can be renewed. The power of connecting with the earth we live on is projecting out gratefulness, and in turn, you receive peace. This is one of the best medicines anyone can have. Going little by little, out to appreciate nature will organize your mind and redirect you. It may seem difficult at first, but the more you remember you are a part of this earth; the more you begin to let go of your stresses.

I always find that this takes away my anger and my focus on money worries. Every Spring, I do this when the sun finally first begins to come out. Those days between icy wind. Beckoning you to take a moment to visit the outdoors. Grab a cup of tea or coffee. Read a book, write, knit, create, appreciate or meditate. Organize your busy mind by just letting nature heal you. Listening to the birds as they converse and serenade you. Watching the little critters crawl up and down dead leaves beside you. With your fingertips, you trace the veins of the plants that managed to survive the cruel winter.

Journaling as you sit with the plants around you can especially release the tension of your mind. Write down what you are grateful for. Write down your life hurdles and try to see what you must learn from them to move on to the next great hill of life. When you are centered and grounded, you can always find the truth within your soul wisdom. The more you can listen to that wisdom within you, the more you can be inspired to be in your purest form.

Let’s do our mind and Spring cleaning. Peace comes from our roots, so let us go back to them! I can’t begin to express how beneficial it has been for me. I once was insecure and felt hopeless. Then I finally went back to experience that childlike wonder. Feeling myself become a miracle of nature again, just by basking in the sun with the grass between my toes. Every year, I bring on new beginnings. Just as Spring does. I relax, and let myself grow like the sunflowers and peonies beside me. Breathe in long and deep, and rest in the goodness of your heart. You are a beautiful piece of the great cosmos, and nothing can ever take that away from you.
