The space you inhabit is a crystallization of your being - a reflection of your state of mind. As the space gets out of hand, so do you. If you don't like it, how can you expect to like yourself? If you don't like yourself, how can you expect others to like you? If you want to improve yourself, start with your room. Be sure it fits to the way you intend to live your life. Keep in mind, however, that mess is not necessarily equivalent to clutter. There are people who flourish in places others may deem as disarray and people who may thrive only in places considered clean. Do not listen to what others want you to be - listen to you. Not everyone is for everyone, not everything for everyone. The art of Feng Shui is subjective. Dance your own dance. This may cause strife among others but as long as you identify these issues as places and times to understand, to learn, and to grow, you can expand the shell of your life to accommodate a more spacious existence. It may be difficult, but some letting go is inevitable. It's part of the process. Do not hold yourself down, or pin yourself to the expectations of others, there is no sense in this. The only worthwhile way forward is the one you carve yourself. The most beautiful path is the one you forge on your own. The ones who love you for who you are will recognize themselves in you. You will not have to force anything, the effort will subside and the results will efface themselves.

Any time something finds itself in your way, remove it. If ever you lose something, find its place. Sleep on the couch if you prefer, keep the bed unmade if it suits you, but be sure to accountable. Be clear. Able to explain yourself. Know where you stand and why. Lend these understandings to others. Einstein's desk was a mess, but served him well. What more evidence do you need? These are simple measures but make for substantial differences. After all, the little things are not little, they add up. Large things, consequently, are composed of small things. Remember this, take it to heart, and you will catch all problems in their infancy. It is a remarkable skill to have. It is present in the best of us. Learn from these people, see the way they do things, and adopt the measures that suit your lifestyle. After all, we are nothing but a conglomeration of all the people we've met, all the things we've seen, a curation of all the things like and do not like, a collage of life as we see it. Embrace this!

Furthermore, be honest and embrace the things that help you. Do not feel compelled to clean every day or all the time if you don't want to. Tension and stress is no way to benefit your health. If you enjoy searching for things, lay claim to this and own it! Do not do something or be a certain way because you think it is the most advantageous thing for you to do as a matter of social standing - do not live primarily for others! Live for yourself first in order to benefit others. To help others you must first help yourself. To be pleasant with others you must first enjoy yourself. This is a time-honored truth, an eternal value. We all have a responsibility to understand each other, to respect one another, to see eachother for who we really are, so being disingenuous to yourself is not only an insult to you, but an offense to others. The importance of this cannot but overstated. Be yourself. Design the life you want to live, and let your accommodations be a reflection of that.
