Why You Should Laugh Often
Of all the ways that humans express themselves, I am fascinated by laughter the most. I remember people by their laughs. I had a classmate named Joan in primary school, I may not remember her speaking voice, I might not even recognise her now but I remember her distinguishable cackle of laughs. Whenever she laughed, you could hear it from far and you would know it was her.

Nobody Listens
My name is Diamond D. I am 29 years old tomorrow, but I look and feel like I’m younger. This has been my problem for years. People tend to think that I am young and dumb. It's kind of sad really that every single person on earth reads people by their appearance. I have studied for years different interactions with different people based on just changing my appearance. I either put on my blue contact lenses, putting makeup, not putting makeup, baggy clothes, tight clothes, more exposed, less exposed, blonde hair, dark hair, blue hair. To the point that if any of my middle school friends ran into me, I'd remember them, but they wouldn’t remember me because I just look different every few months. It’s no one’s fault but my own, but it makes me think about all the women in this world who must uphold a certain appearance based on our jobs or everyday occurrences. Women and men are expected to act or dress a certain way to look competent. You could have possibly given homeless person money or food thinking they are homeless but, could be scamming you. Little do you know that “homeless” man/woman lives in this bigger house than yours. Don’t get me started with the way you speak and your tone of voice. These days, can we really be ourselves?

Silver Lining
I turned 46 this past November and realized I am at that mid life moment of how the hell did I get here and what’s next. While yes my hair is getting gorgeous silver highlights and my knees are struggling to keep up. I am really not that old. I have another 20 years of work to do. But what’s next?

My top 5 ways to make the most out of ‘Me Time’
Let's face it, getting time truly to yourself is rare and precious once you become a parent. When I say truly to yourself, I don't mean getting the opportunity to plow through the housework without a tiny person following behind you, or getting to browse the shelves at the supermarket on your own while doing the groceries.

The Perils of Meta-Doubt
Trust is the firm, undeniable belief in the reliability of someone or something. If A inevitably leads to B . . . well, trust believes that both A and B are pretty sure bets. They are reliable . . . predictable, even. You can trust that all will go according to plan and all will be well.

The Dance of the Happy Elephant
This morning, filled with sadness and longing, and an undercurrent of anger, I asked the Universe to send me some help. I didn't wake up that way, but while turning off my alarm, I noticed a message from a loved one. It was an unpleasant message and I quickly set it down to begin my morning practice of energetic grounding and alignment (what some might call chakra meditation) and gratitude. I forgave myself for looking at the message before my practice, it was only natural to look at it, since I'd been anticipating a (happy) response. It was natural that I felt disappointed and I didn't have to let it sweep my day into a field of negativity. I got myself into a good zone and then went about walking the dog.

Listening
My favorite part of this song is the silence between the notes and the breaths between the highs and lows. It's titled "Wierd Fishes" covered by Lianne La Havas and originally created by Radio Head. When I first heard this song it instantly gave me a new perspective on creating, the affectiveness of expressing and communicating without sound. As I listened and as I still listen to this day I fall into a trance every time, wondering if other listeners can hear what I feel and see what I mean. The concept of sound being comforting when it's absent is exactly what our minds try to achieve with meditation. Meditation is to quiet the mind so you can hear yourself and your breath in order to limit external interferences that create nervousness, triggering your breath to shake with uncertainty or limiting your ability to gain clarity. In the book "Think like a Monk" by Jay Shetty, he quoted a piece from the sacred writings of the "Katha Unpanishad" which is a series of Hindu sacred writings in Sanscrit.
