HAPPINESS

Life is Beautiful

By Hannah MeadePublished 5 years ago 4 min read

Today, I'm going to be answering questions that are positive and uplifting. I've never been a good journal-taker, but typing it out on a computer is just my niche.

There is so much negativity in the world every day and it's important that we choose to focus on the good instead of the bad.

I want my audience, AKA YOU, to answer these questions as well or just search your own happiness journal prompts and take mental notes if you prefer!

First up, I'll be naming smells that make me happy.

Food. Yes, that is broad. But, certain foods just smell so good I instantly perk up. Ice cream, queso, chicken noodle soup, and mac n cheese are just a few smells that make me happy.

Fresh air. When we were having 70-degree weather a couple of weeks ago, I immediately opened the windows and took in a big inhale. I love the smell of fresh spring and summer air. There is something about the air after a long and cold winter that makes me look forward to this season every year.

Fresh-cut grass. Funny thing, I get seasonal allergies so this smell makes me equally sniffly and sneezy as it does happy. Right after someone mows the lawn in my close proximity, though, is the best time.

Bath and Bodyworks scents. If I were to count how many perfumes and lotions I had before cleaning out my stash, you would be shocked at the amount. I have a problem, but I enjoy certain scents for certain seasons. Marshmallow pumpkin latte is my favorite Fall scent. Fresh sea salt and mango is for summer. Vanilla bean noel and twisted peppermint are winter scents. A new scent, hibiscus paradise, is my go-to for this spring season.

Please tell me I'm not the only one with a Bath and Bodyworks obsession.

Next, I'll be talking about my greatest comforts.

I have undiagnosed high-functioning anxiety. It definitely gets in the way of life some days, but this means I enjoy my comfort moments.

1. Netflix shows.

I've made a separate post about my favorite go-to Netflix shows and movies, so go check that out if you're looking for a new show!

I do watch the same shows multiple times, because it's familiar and comfortable and I know what is going to happen. It takes a lot for me to start a new show and stick with it long enough to know the storyline. I recently started watching Gilmore Girls, after trying a million other first episodes of different shows first.

Getting to relax at the end of a workday and snuggling up on the couch with my boyfriend to watch our shows, is my favorite part of the day. Besides sleep.

2. Walking outside.

Now that it's spring and the weather is above 40 degrees all of the time, my boyfriend and I have started taking night walks again after dinner. This is a time that we get to catch up from the day and also get some fresh air outside. By the time we walk, the sun is starting to set and the sky is usually very pretty shades of pinks or oranges depending on the day.

I sit at a desk for 9 hours of the day Monday-Friday, so getting to take a 20-30 minute walk after dinner feels amazing.

3. Reading on the deck.

Reading has always been a favorite hobby of mine, but it's been hard for the past few years to get in reading time with school and now a full-time job.

I definitely feel the need to prioritize reading a bit more, because it brings me so much joy to nuzzle up in the chair and get lost in the storyline. I enjoy it mainly when I don't have to look at the time because of an upcoming appointment or task.

I just love to read until I have to use the bathroom or something interrupts me that I have to go take care of. Reading is my escape from the world and helps me stay calm during an anxious day.

Now, I'll be talking about my dream. If money were no object, what would I want to do with my life?

My dream has always been to travel.

I grew up in a very small town, having to drive an hour to the nearest "big" city. After leaving that small town and living in a bigger city for college, I've realized that there is so much more world out there than just my address.

I would love to have a job that takes me all around the world. That is the ultimate dream; to travel until my heart is content and then settle down in my favorite place.

What is that favorite place? I don't know yet.

Some of the places I hope to go to are:

Domestically

California, Seattle WA, Colorado, Texas, New York, Chicago, South Carolina, Hawaii, and back to Florida. I've been to Florida one time for Disneyworld a few years back, but would love to revisit.

Internationally

Cancun (actually going here in 2022!), London, Paris, Bahamas, and Greece.

I have been on a plane only once in my 21 years of life and I loved it so much. I love the idea of getting on a plane that is going to take me to a whole new place.

The one time I went on a plane was when it was cold in the midwest and 70 degrees in Florida, so that helped my love of plane rides.

Besides traveling, I cannot wait to get married and start a family. I dream about living in a beautiful house in a friendly neighborhood where my kids and myself can get along with the neighbors. I would love to have cookouts and pool parties in the summer and just completely live in the moment every day.

That's the dream. I'm manifesting all of this, starting now.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and found yourselves answering the prompts as well!

Please make sure to give me a like and let me know what you thought.

I hope you all are having a fabulous day and don't forget to dream big. Never settle; you'll never know what's out there waiting for you if you do.
