One Day At A Time. This is Enough.
When I was a little girl my grandfather gave me an A5 postcard which I pinned to my headboard. I still treasure it today and made 4 copies which now preside over each of my children's beds. It is a simple poem which struck and continues to strike a deep chord within me. It has shaped my life’s philosophies, my behaviours and my intense ‘cherish today’ attitude. It reads as follows:

I'M A PRODUCT OF MY ENVIRONMENT
When you hear someone say," I'm a product of my environment" What do you think they are saying? Here's what I believe a person is saying when they state the above. A person is saying, I am who I am because of my environment, the people I hang around, the people I see daily, the food my parents prepared for me growing up, the things that happened to me over the years, and things I was forced to hear, say, do, and see in my life, molded me to be the person you see before you. So if you feel any kind of way about me, blame my surroundings. Typical right??? It's like the go-to cliché' to get out of finally being exposed to the truth about self, and hearing any good that can come out of bringing you out of self-pity. Been there, done that. lol.

Start By Helping Just One
Any kind hearted and caring soul would take any opportunity to help, support, and uplift others, where they could. Be it a homeless person in the street, begging for money, or a devastated individual who lost their home to a bushfire, a friend or work colleague who is suffering from a debilitating health issue, or an elderly neighbor struggling to look after themselves, whatever the situation where someone is in need, it's the kind hearted and caring souls that are always there to help. Unfortunately, there are also many of us who also make assumptions and judgements about people, when it actually doesn't reflect the true story of that person, and their circumstances. For example, we see a homeless person in the street, and we instantly assume they are too lazy to get a job, that they are drug addicts, that they are alcoholics, and that they will spend any money handed to them on these addictions, or to buy cigarettes. Then there are some of us who often shy away from providing help to others, because we adopt this belief that we can't really make a genuine difference. We feel that performing such a small act of kindness isn't going to exactly help many people, so why bother? We seem to place this massive expectation on ourselves, that our acts of generosity, kindness, help, and support, must visually indicate that we are actually changing many people's lives, otherwise it's not worth our time and effort. We really would so love to make a difference in this world, and our focus narrows to trying to help everyone, but we end up completely overlooking the simplicity of being able to make a world of difference to even just one person. The thing is, if we really want to make a difference in the world, we only need to start by helping one person.

I Will Never Give Up My Self-Control, Again!
Your getting excited... You know that what your doing is what your supposed to be doing. You've been PROCRASTINATING, for, if we were to be 100% honest... longer than you wanted. And that PROCRASTINATION has been what, in my experience, procrastinating with never reaching the stars and all that I dream. But why? Why, when I have 100% ability to do so?

Clean Slate
Every New Year’s Eve, we write our resolutions. We swear we’ll keep to them. We seldom do. One of the reasons we “cheat” ourselves (so to speak) through the year is because once we’ve broken a resolution, we figure we might as well keep breaking it and start over next New Year’s Eve. Well, people like me at least. Scratch that, the old me was like that. Who is the new me then? And how Does one “become” her? Well, for starters, start now. Decide right now that that’s who you want to be. Write it down, pin it on Pinterest. You could even start a vision board about it. However you do it, think it- be it. The second you doubt yourself and start telling yourself that you might as well wait until next year, that’s where you start making a “cushion” for yourself. A comfort zone if you will. Take this for example: my “10 year anniversary” with my now husband is this year. We started dating 10 years ago this March. Married in 2018. We’ve had our ups and downs throughout the years. Some years were great, some were so incredibly stressful that we have contemplated splitting up. Regardless of that, I decided that not only will this year, 2021, be our year- but we are going to try to start off a new decade of our relationship on a more positive and healthy note as well. It sounds hard- and he thinks its going to be so hard- but if you take a few steps back to look at it, you’ll see that there’s not as much to it as you thought. Just because you can’t reach the top corners of the big picture yet doesn’t mean that it‘s not worth having-you know, the big picture. You have to acknowledge that big picture every now and then to remember the parts you don’t yet have access to yet and remind yourself why you need it.

Alright who Sprayed the Cheese Can
Welcome to year that can only guide us into the stronger, well minded, and patient people that we are! After your morning routine I want you to take a few extra minutes in the morning to stretch and give your body that fulfilling boost! There are many ways to STAY ACTIVE and sometimes it’s hard to feel motivated when we aren’t seeing the world. Especially if it’s just you in the room, but even a dance party can active the body and get you moving. Pick a few of your favorite songs and try to focus on main groups of muscles for at least 15 minutes a day, your body will thank you! On top of that if it’s sunny, take a walk outside just to keep blood flow and even take it a step further by going on a hike at least 3 times a week! I find it important to keep the body moving and switching up the way you go about it. Do a different activity a day. Swim laps one day, go for a run, skate for an hour or two, do a HIT program, box, you get the picture. It’s about keeping our bodies functioning and prepared to do it all, not just our physical appearance.

How to DOMINATE your new year's resolutions. Top Story - February 2021.
Between the years 2015- 18, I had a lofty goal to lift x amount of weight before I graduated high school. I went from scrawny weakling to the "walking muscle" as my little brother liked to call me. In September 2018, I was a 155-pound athlete able to box squat 500lbs. That's 3.23 times my weight! I still remember that experience with precise detail. It's true what they say: "Champions are made when no one is watching."

Well, Well, Wellness. What Do We Have Here?
As an expert in wellness, I felt particularly compelled to write this piece. I have, after all, completed my skincare routine twice this week, considered going to the gym last night and currently have salad mix in my fridge. I follow wellness influencers, saving their tips and tricks for a time that I am not already nestled into my bed. I take multiple vitamins most days. I am up at 5 A.M. (note the “am” replacing “wake” in that sentence.) I clearly have my life together.
