Welcome to year that can only guide us into the stronger, well minded, and patient people that we are! After your morning routine I want you to take a few extra minutes in the morning to stretch and give your body that fulfilling boost! There are many ways to STAY ACTIVE and sometimes it’s hard to feel motivated when we aren’t seeing the world. Especially if it’s just you in the room, but even a dance party can active the body and get you moving. Pick a few of your favorite songs and try to focus on main groups of muscles for at least 15 minutes a day, your body will thank you! On top of that if it’s sunny, take a walk outside just to keep blood flow and even take it a step further by going on a hike at least 3 times a week! I find it important to keep the body moving and switching up the way you go about it. Do a different activity a day. Swim laps one day, go for a run, skate for an hour or two, do a HIT program, box, you get the picture. It’s about keeping our bodies functioning and prepared to do it all, not just our physical appearance.

Remember time is made up, if you really want to do something you’ll find the time even if it’s less than an hour. Consider it an addition to your self love routine of face masks and painting your nails. We love the DIYs that we’ve all come across and I’m sure it has saved us a good amount of money. Another way to save is to make your COFFEE at home, once you master the drink to your liking it’s like you purchased it from your favorite coffee shop. Not only are you saving money, but you’re also saving car gas leaving that task for the end of the week, and avoiding the temptations that await inside the station.

Now that the day has begun let’s get to the good stuff! Let’s break the society norms of needing to celebrate every hard work accomplished with a puff bar and or a shot. No. Let’s do something different this year! Let’s treat ourselves to that FANCY RESTAURANT we keep googling. You know the ones with the phenomenal placements of dishes we drool over. What about that TRIP you wanted to take up the coast for the weekend, fuck it, make it a day trip and numb your ass in the car as your friends help you laugh it off. There is so much the world has to offer and that’s a treat in itself. Better yet, treat your future self when things really open up again by putting a little extra in your SAVINGS. That’ll really brighten the mood and kill two birds with one stone!

Speaking of stones, it’s stone cold now that the winter has come around and what better way to keep each other warm than COOKING new meals for the family. Take it upon yourself to try to create at least one new dish a week, whether that is something you searched online, saw in a recipe book, grandma’s classics that have been hiding in the cabinet, or something you come up with on the spot! Not only will this be fun, it will teach you how to cook. If you already know how to then there’s always room for improvement because with meals, it’s never ending with dishes. Hopefully there will be no dropping of the dishes, don’t want anything else to break. Like our spirits! Keep the POSITIVITY and stay strong for days where we feel like we haven’t accomplished anything. Even the smallest of tasks, such as brushing your teeth, goes a long way.

A long time ago we lived life with fruits, vegetables, and proteins given to us on this earth by any means of finding. With many distractions we forgot how available they are. Literally waiting for us at the entrance of the store. I challenge you to pick up at least five veggies that you can turn into any EASY SNACK. Personally my favorites are edamame, BELL PEPPERS, sugar snap peas, peas, and carrots. Let me break down my reasoning. Most of the time we snack out of boredom, so we might as well stock up on healthier options, that way we aren’t feeling too full or guilty when it’s time to indulge in a dinner. Hey if we want a pizza, good thing we already had our veggies for the day earlier. I choose those veggies because they’re quick and easy, don’t even need to cook them. If you do decide to cook, oh the spices you can add to them, yummmmmmy. As for carrots, don’t knock it till you try it, but add peanut butter to them, it’s sweet and adds protein. Questioning as to why I put bell peppers in all caps, don’t worry I didn’t forget. Bell peppers come in four colors, and in my opinion four flavors. What? Yes four flavors. Green is plain with a little bitterness, I prefer sautéed. Red is the sweet like fruit one, I like to crunch on these plain or add some cheese. Orange the sweet like sugar, definitely plain. Yellow plain like a water crunch, plain or hummus is a nice touch. No matter what the pepper, cooked or raw, its my favorite choice.

CHOICES will always be there. Choices on what we eat, how we act, how we present ourselves, even how we think. Easier said than done, but it’s the truth. I want everyone to remember that no matter how dark our thoughts seem to get, closing our eyes and breathing, separates the darkness that was falsely shown from a shadow that lingers in our brightly embodied minds. The world is a beautiful place if we choice to partake in the moments that carry the wealth in happiness and not the things that only hold instant gratification and hold no depth to our memories. It’s important to be GRATEFUL for the ones who stand by us in their true form, and we must be grateful for our own true form. We attract who we are, so stay authentic to gain more authentic people and experiences. You’ll never forget those moments.

MOMENTS are never ending so you might as well see the best in each situation no matter how drastic it has become. It makes things easier when moving forward. Let us let go of grudges and negative moments that no longer serve our lesson once learned and move forward with the guidance we are now aware of. Let’s continue in our paths avoiding the never ending loops that are catered by bad habits that make us feel weak, guilty, or un nurtured. Finding lows are easy, but doesn’t working for something make it so much more rewarding when handed to us afterwards?

These are a list of things; something you can try all at once, keep in mind, or pull a few out gradually. It’s hard to cut things cold turkey. Personally I prepped a little prior to 2021 with taking out substances. It was overwhelming and I’ve definitely cracked here and there with a drink with no purpose, or a smoke to sit and relax. Regardless of my hiccups I remind myself it’s normal, it’s going to happen, especially when quitting all my favorite things in one take. I simply try again, starting the next day as if it didn’t happen. At the end of the day TRUST YOUR BODY, it tells you what it desires. Eating well for example, treat yourself if you crave something. This eliminates over indulging when you finally get your hands on it. Make a healthy choice in the category you are craving because you don’t want to substitute it with numerous amounts of other foods to avoid it. Just like anything else in life, have things in moderation, give yourself the experience of appreciation.

A HELPFUL TIP: Instead of counting the days, guide yourself with things that motivate you to do better, things that push you towards the future you wish to be a part of. Don’t look at the clock, look at your list of things to do.
