Long Live the Soul
The Power of Self Reflection (QOTD)
One of the forms of writing that I find the most captivating is quotes.
No matter how busy you are, you always have time to read a quote. They say so much and in such a concise way. When done correctly, even though you encountered them in a mere moment, they stick with you. They leave you with something to ponder over; life knowledge waiting to be discovered.
The following quote is one written by me , followed by a brief message to further expand upon it. It’s designed to read in less than five minutes, but hopefully leave you with an impact much more long lasting.
If you enjoy this kind of reading, please let me know below! I have so many quotes that I have written, and would love to share them!

One of life’s most devastating tragedies is when someone allows their soul to wither away before their body does. – Annie Mae Edwards
When was the last time you paused to take a moment of silence for yourself?
It’s something we often neglect, failing to recognize its importance in the chaos of life.
But why is it so essential?
Because mastering the art of silencing the world allows you to truly hear your soul.
What is a Moment of Silence?
We typically think of a moment of silence as a way to honor loss. While this is true, loss isn’t limited to physical death. Loss can also mean the slow dwindling of your soul—the part of you that gives meaning to your existence.
As individuals, there are fundamental truths we cannot ignore: the importance of self-love, self-acceptance, and a deep understanding of who we are. Yet so many of us set aside our basic needs, striving to meet societal definitions of success and purpose. This, in turn, leads to a loss of our true selves, and therefore leads to a ripple of abhorrent negative effects.
We yearn for purpose, for a sense of meaning. But how can we fulfill a purpose we don’t fully understand? The foundation of everything we do rests on understanding ourselves—our needs, our strengths, our very essence. Without this understanding, we are like a puzzle piece in an enormous picture, incomplete and disconnected.
The Journey Within
To find your purpose and live authentically, you must begin by seeking to understand the depths of your soul. It’s not an easy journey. It’s often messy, heart wrenching , and slow.
You’ll revisit painful memories you’ve buried deep down, some of which you failed to even realize you were burying, and some of which you never wanted to recount again. You’ll confront fears you’ve avoided, and although there is victory in that, you won’t feel very victorious at the time. You will uncover many life lessons, some of which you may not feel ready for. But trust me, this journey—while rocky—is essential.
Ignoring this process is even more tragic. Without understanding and embracing yourself, you’ll navigate the world like a soldier without armor, unprepared for its challenges. Your soul will wither under the weight of a life merely endured instead of experienced.
Two Things to Remember
1.Don’t let the world’s tragedies cause you to neglect yourself.
The greatest tragedy is preventable: losing touch with who you are.
•Take time to know yourself. You have your own special touch to add to the world.
•Embrace yourself. All of yourself.
Even your flaws have value, as long as you spend them wisely. -Annie Edwards
•Love yourself. You deserve the love, care, and acceptance you extend to others.
You are always enough. Do your best, and allow that to be sufficient.
2.True fulfillment comes from within.
Many of us—including myself—become consumed with finding life’s purpose. We long to understand why our small puzzle piece matters in the grand picture.
But here’s the truth: only by authentically loving and understanding yourself can you make a genuine impact on the world. As Sadhguru once said , “The only way out is in.” We can search far and wide, but the answer lies inside.
Final Thoughts
Fulfillment doesn’t come from external sources; it radiates from within, touching every part of your life and leaving an indelible mark on the world around you. To create this ripple effect, you must first prioritize taking moments of silence for yourself. This simple act allows you to reconnect with your soul, to hear its voice, and to begin living with intention and purpose.
Don’t let life’s noise drown out your inner truth. Take a moment for yourself today—and every day—to reconnect with the essence of who you are. It’s the first step to living your best life.
