humanity
For better or for worse, relationships reveal the core of the human condition.
The Pine Mountain Clan Journal
She opened her backpack and took out the bundle. Carefully unwrapped it and put away the red cloth in her pocket. The blood had dried on the leather cover and made it look worn on those spots. She had read it several times. Even knew some pages by heart. But when she was standing at the crest. She wanted to read one page, the first page….

Better to Give
The morning traffic was heavier than usual, even for a Monday. Normally, Tom would be happy about this, walking between the barely-moving cars with his cup in hand, collecting coins. Today, though, he was sitting on his cushion, leaning against a brick wall, and watching the cars inch along. He was tired and his leg was bothering him. The night before had been cold and he hadn’t slept well. Fortunately, the foot traffic was also greater than normal and he’d already collected several dollars. He figured he had enough to go buy breakfast, but he stayed in place, thinking he would be able to collect a few more dollars for lunch and supper as well in fairly short order.

The Mission
You know how the airport routinely announces that baggage and personal items should not be left unattended? And unattended items found will be treated as suspicious? Well, I've never heard them say that after a 14-hour flight, be extra careful and make sure you don't mistakenly pick up a strangers bag as your own.

HARMAGEDDON CITY (Interlude)
“Fruits that heal any disease, that can increase one’s life expectancy by 100’s of years,” I recall these words as I gaze at the orchid in the distance, the bright reds and yellows of which can still be seen in the darkness. New Jerusalem. The Promised Land. They call this place impossible, a land of miracles, where one’s soul can finally find rest. But as I walk along the cold sand of the beach’s shore, my thoughts begin to wander, traversing the planes of time’s past.

The Roundtable
Before leaving for the day, the Zodiacs sat at the roundtable filling out paperwork. “Last person for today, name to be determined by parents, born April 12th…Ah, he’s mine. Never mind guys, you can pack up for today.” Aries said as the head of the Zodiacs. The other Zodiacs stood up from their seat and began walking out of the office. Taurus and the Pisces twins, however, remained seated next to Aries.

It started with Vision
As I woke from the dream. I lay there looking out of my bedroom balcony door, trying to make sense of the vision I had. While I was asleep a person came to me, more specifically a homeless man with a very soft spirit. I was sitting downtown, looking out the window trying to figure out how I was going to help all these homeless individuals since there seems to be so many of them and not enough people willing to help. As I’m sitting there a tall man with a brown coat walks to me and says, “come take a walk with me”. He grabs my hand and before I even realize what has taken place I’m walking through the streets of downtown to a large building. He gently places a hand on top of mines and says, If your true desire is to help, quit your job, but don’t worry, the blessings that you’re going to encounter will be great. We continued to walk into this building entering a turn-style door. He stepped in 1st and then I walked in behind him. Instead of going into the building I continued to spin and ended back outside of the building. Then I woke up! Not sure what to think, I decided to get up and start my day.

Slippery When Wet
I am a Gemini, so what? They say I am supposed to be two people at once, supposed to blow hot and cold all the time, to love to be in a crowd and yet run away and hide the minute I can. Geminis are supposed to over-do everything...too much work, too much play. They are expected to be indecisive, to not finish all the wild projects they start, and to keep other people waiting all the time.

I Hope You Find Me
I remember when I first knew. We'd gone to Mauritius. There had been exactly 4 sunsets. With each one I had been flooded with thoughts of how intensely, consumingly beautiful it was, and that everyone who saw it probably thought it was the most beautiful thing they’d ever seen. That’s when I begged for all these people to meet you- in some capacity- so they could lose themselves, as I do, in the incomprehensible beauty of your soul and its surroundings. I was staring at you, I lay down next to you as I ran my fingers down your spine, tracing the letters I LOVE YOU over and over on your back. I chuckled to myself about that flight we took to Tokyo when there was a mix-up with seating, I teased that you were so delightfully small I could pack you away in my carry-on. But when there was turbulence I was always so grateful to have you there with me. I'd look at you, pull you close, hold you to my heart and I felt safe. But, throughout all this, I knew.

True at Heart
Don’t you just enjoy waking up early in the morning feeling fresh and free of all stress every day? Well, I don’t! That sure must be nice though. My body is just a bucket full of stress, anxiety and depression 24/7. Life in 2021 can be all sorts of stressful. My name is Clara Everly, and welcome to my life, where I enjoy meme hunting, job searching, even though I’ve had my masters degree for three years, working at my meaningless job to pay the rent, and my student loan debt skyrocketing past Mars.
