The barn becomes her home when she's just five years old. The smell of horse and hay in the stalls is more comforting than the cigarette smoke and black coffee in the farmhouse - it’s more natural, more welcoming. She doesn’t go to fancy art classes or ballet like the girls at school. She makes sculptures of mud in the rain and hops and leaps with the toads by the pond. She wears dirt like a crown and fly spray for perfume. She catches lightning bugs in jars and counts stars on her back in the soft grass. The horses are dangerous and lovely, warm and soft, off-limits, and all that she wants to be around. When she’s just five years old, the barn is home and the wise old barn owl watches over her.

Hippie Culture 2022: Same Spirit New Era
It is 2022, a ways from the birth of the 1960’s hippie movement. Which began as a counterculture that objected to the war, violence, and injustice that was happening in the U.S. and the message took off worldwide. Their message was one of love, peace, empathy, and unity. The hippies were passionate; they stood for something. And it wasn’t just about marijuana, psychedelics, free love, and music festivals. It was about a belief in the power of the human spirit and the potential for a better way to be.

Topsy turvy
Am I happy? Am I good? I'm definitely not very witty. Is my life worth it? Do I matter oh no am I shallow I don't think I m meant to matter? Woah wait worth what? what are we measuring lives against? maybe I do matter and I haven't put in enough effort I definitely should have done things differently. No hang on, I'm ok I've been the best me I can be right, But what if I'm not getting it, wait am I dumb, what is the meaning of life again Who knows the answer not me eeek lucky no one can hear me. Stupid other people walking around like they have it all figured out! Well, not Pam she a total mess? Oh, shit am I judgemental and mean? Do I bother to learn new things? have I done my job as a human? What even is that job? What is actually important? Is it humans or is it the earth? Or is it just being good? Do I care enough? Crap I don't have very good relationships with people.... some other little voice in my head yells "you don't care people are complex and make you anxious! Well, hang on though little voice connection with people IS important. And right now I'm trying to come up with value I think i have to offer so please internal noise makes some sense. The panic of getting it "right" had set in.

I have wasted both time and affections on poorly suited lovers, so I will spend little time speaking of them, with the exception of my two husbands. In fact, I grew both tiresome and a little more than mildly irritated even thinking of them. I scarcely think of a term of endearment for either. One was a fantastic father and a terrible husband. The other was successful financially, but emotionally retentive to a fault. In fact, my ex-husband’s temper made my heart rearrange from love to fear in four short days after the wedding. His heart went black and never did come back to me. I am blessed with two beautiful daughters from those marriages but little else.
