humanity
For better or for worse, relationships reveal the core of the human condition.
Small, Intentional Light. Runner-Up in We Have a Dream Challenge.
Today I made a radical decision. I put my phone in my pocket while running errands. This simple step allowed me to take in more of the world around me and be more engaged with the people in my path.

Don't Be Modest.
Have you praised yourself recently? Have you bragged about some of your accomplishments? Are you being modest? I get it. I humble myself all the time because gloating is frowned upon. However, I think 2022 came in rough for almost everyone and we could use some self-appreciation. So, today is a great day to toot your own horn!

More Than A Job
I grew up in a loving home with a wonderful family who wished nothing but the best for me. I was an only child, and was endlessly spoiled due to the lack of a sibling to share the spotlight in our home, but I remained forever kind and respectful to those around me and intended to become the best version of myself the more I learned and grew.

Breaking Away
Breaking Away Photo by Jackson Simmer on Unsplash34 years of existence and the sheer exhaustion of carrying out the responsibilities that were entrusted to me even before adulthood, finally made me say, "Enough is enough! I deserve a break from everything!" There were days when I could feel the whole weight of the responsibilities on my shoulder and it started manifesting as physical pain. I didn't realize how tightly wound up I was until then.

Why Do We Like Negative News?
In the press, the number of negative news is much higher than the positive ones, and the explanations for this are much more complex than one might think at first glance. A study done in Canada shows that it is not only the cynicism of journalists or the public's attraction to the sensational that are the factors that influence this structure of news, writes BBC.

I fear for the future generations of humankind
I fear for the world that we have created for humans and for all those who watch as Earth rollercoasters into its final demise. This world that is a little bit over two decades into the 21st century, into the new millennium, has so much to offer yet... conflict seems to be rampant everywhere.

What is a Modern Human?
I think I have been born into the wrong era... When I was in my teens, I was told by adults that I was wise beyond my years and that not many people my age would think about the whole picture like I did. Well, that was an awfully kind statement. What they actually meant to say and what was masked, hidden in their spoken statement, was that I was a thoroughly depressed and mentally challegned child. No child that they know of would be as weird as me.

As Above, So Below
In recent years spirituality, especially in the form of astrology, has become increasingly popularized over conventional religious practices. Although astrology can be broadly defined, Virginia Rosenburg states that “it was originally intended [to act] as an ancient symbolic language and a healing art,” (2017, 0:40). In essence, it is a way of translating the movements and interactions of celestial bodies to draw interpretations about the characteristics of human beings and the natural world. This practice of studying the stars has endured for centuries, experiencing resurgences in times of instability and uncertainty. I would posit that the exponential rise in the popularity of astrology within the last decade is facilitated by the practice’s strong inclusion of myth, symbolism, and worldview as indicators of a way to understand the changing modern world and, more so, to understand ourselves. Astrology also provides followers with a ritualistic practice and specialists to turn to. At the very least, even if you do not habitually check your horoscope in the newspaper, checking in every now and then is fun and occasionally, a little magical.

The Seven Types of Cold
As a Canadian, I am often asked, “Why?” This question, of course, confuses me until I realize that the person who poses it wants a clear answer about the weather. Over the last week, winter has asserted itself in my adopted hometown of Hampstead, Quebec (a Montreal suburb with more quiet than I deserve). Ice is now hidden under a dusting of snow, and it is very hard to take a step without the feeling that you are about to connect to pavement and asphalt in a very painful and intimate way. I do understand why the question exists.

Dear Norm Aubim, and Michael Mc Evilly,
My heroes, you are both amazing. I still wish you two could or would have triggered an acquittal. I guess or assume that the situation was a cannot or a will not. I am forever grateful to both of you for helping me get loose on probation. I have great news, within the following months I will be a parakeet owner. I am loving being an author via vocal+, writers block has been killing me though. I hate writer's block it sucks very bad. I am sitting here writing this letter listening to Juice World, chain-smoking lucky strikes, wishing I could spark up a kush joint, and get lit. I hope that you both are well, and living life to the fullest. I wish that the three of us could celebrate for old times' sake at happy hour someplace nice downtown Cincinnati. I am dying to smoke a joint of la right now, I have not smoked any bud in a long time. I might get a cartridge up in mount Washington when I get paid, I wish I could go to I'm. Dazed right today and get one. Big dreamer I am I cannot wait to get that reefer high again. When I get paid this upcoming week I probably will get a bag 7 grams and a few tenths over I hope I can factor it in. I hope when I get my reefer bag that it is indeed kush. I miss you guys, I hope that you two are stoned and enjoying it.

Missing Out
Do you ever think about how much you would miss out on if everything was done for you? Regardless of whether or not your economics can afford to have absolutely EVERYTHING done for you, while it is nice to have convenience, or to be able to afford it, but how much is too much?
