There Are Angels In This World
Who Are Your Angels?
(Originally written in a personal blog of 2019.)
I have been so very blessed to know a handful of angels in this world. Humans with completely pure and compassionate hearts. These are the type of people that see the beauty in a mess.
5 years ago I met one of the most beautiful people I know. At this time in my life I sunk into huge depression as my heart was so completely broken! This person would come over pick me and my kids up and take me to her home. I would sink into her couch and curl up in a ball knowing my kids were perfectly safe. I could just rest while losing touch with reality for a bit.
The funny thing is I had a profound phobia of psychologists, therapists, and anyone in that field due to traumatic things that happened to me as a child. As we were getting to know each other my friend told me she was studying and doing intern hours to be in that line of work. Oh how comical life can be! The people that the Lord puts in your life! I have overcome most of my phobia and we are currently seeing an amazing therapist who helps guide us with issues with my 11 year old. I feel she helped get us to that point though because I was given an opportunity to see that they are human beings with lives, families, and sometimes even flaws. People in that profession are just that people; some are good and some are bad. My friend is one of the very good ones. She has a quote, ” as metal sharpens metal, so people sharpen each other.”
The Lord has blessed my friend with a beautiful home about an hour away from mine. Do you know she still wants to come pick me up so we can talk, watch kids play, rest, and just enjoy each others company. I always felt I can be at rest in her company. Those are such amazing angels the ones that you simply can rest with. They are healing angels.
I have know other angels in my life and the first one was not human! Over 20 years ago I was a young woman on the street staying in an abandoned mobile home park behind the Anaheim Pond. There was a club house with an attic. An attic that I fell out of about 15 ft. All the witnesses said where I fell my head should have hit a huge piece of jagged metal from a water heater. I could not move, I could not talk, but could hear everyone surrounding me trying to decide what to do.
I was among homeless men some of whom had warrants. The particular group of men that day were actually kind and never took advantage of me. I felt someone holding my head and protecting it. When I finally was able to move and speak I asked who was holding my head. They all looked at each other and said, “No one.”
Somebody was holding my head and they were all perplexed insisting not one person touched me because they didn’t know how badly I was injured. I got away from that incident with just a few broken toes.
I believe to this day an Angel was holding my head and God wrapped me in a blanket of His Love and protection. Now to be fair it could have been the drugs back then, but I really don’t think so. Was completely sober the following day. I saw the height of where I fell, the hole I fell through, and the jagged metal of the water heater sticking out right where my head should have been. Chills me still to this day! I know with all my heart that the Lord has had his hand on me for a long time protecting me from many situations that could have been so much worse. I have many other incidents of situations that could have been worse but they are still too painful to be completely open up about. Life as a teenager on the streets of both L.A. and Orange County had it’s scary moments. Ones that I’m grateful to have lived through.
Some Angels you meet in your life serve a role for a short period of time and others may be in it for a consistently long period of time. They are usually people who do not judge and listen with a loving heart, sometimes they have something to teach you in just the right moment, and sometimes they surprise you with an entire KFC meal for your whole family after your husband lost his job. Some angels are souls on the street who lost their way for a moment of time and need help finding their wings. I have met one of those and he died frozen in the cold and I truly believe he is in heaven today!
Then there are the angels that talk with you over messenger for long periods of time helping you process the complete crap you are trying to survive. Those particular angels will even have an amazing homemade pizza dinner party with you! There are also angels who you meet one time in a store and then they will travel every so often from a completely different continent and bless you with their company!
Some angels even though they are not your family by blood do so much for your family and children. They help watch, guide, and pray over your little ones. They become a part of your family. They go out of their way to learn techniques how to guide your kids in the same way you are trying. They laugh over silly spaghetti dinners and come in emergencies! They strengthen you and support you!
Whatever angels are in your life take care to acknowledge and be thankful for them. Never take advantage of an angel because they are truly a rare blessing and pure hearted!
“Do not forget to entertain strangers, for so by doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.” Hebrews 13:2
