The Candle
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. At least that’s what we thought. We knew where the cabin was, we camped only a hundred yards or so away and passed the small crumbling structure often but always in the day time as we hiked down to the stream.

if a candle burns in the woods, and nobody is there to see it…
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. The candle had been placed there by Jonathan Taxia, a man in his mid-20s with everything laid out in front of him. He was a newlywed who was just about to finish his law degree and he already had a job lined up with a highly reputed firm in Chicago. His wife Catherine, a grade-school teacher, had just learned earlier in the month that she was pregnant, and they were both overjoyed.

The red saguileno
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window, because that was a very special night. It was the night that marked the emancipation of an 18-year-old guy with very pale skin, and blond hair named Virgil Van Petev, who had grown tired of his parents' rules and finally left home to live by his own rules, and what better place to start this new adventure that the old abandoned cabin in the Lujubia forest? It was not his dream place, but it was free, and for him, it represented an excellent starting point. He just had to clean it and take all the crazy stories he heard about the place in the past out of his mind.

Never trust anyone
"The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window." This was the first thought that popped in your head as you passed the old cabin nestled in the woods. You have passed it many times over the years, always dark and cold as you passed it on your many hikes through the forest, what makes this night different and why is there a candle burning? “what’s wrong Arthur?” Sadie asks as you near the old building. “You act as if you’ve seen a ghost”. You and Sadie have been dating for several years and have fallen deeply in love with each other, but this is the first time you have ever brought her on one of your private walks through the forest since you first met, is it some strange coincidence that the candle burns now?

WAX
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Kat, an audacious teenage girl, was the only one of her family to notice the flame, not surprisingly, considering her natural curiosity and fascination with abandoned buildings. She pointed it out to her parents, neither of whom showed any interest at all. Her father was too distracted trying to figure out where they were on the map, and her mother too busy trying to stop her little brother, Teddy, from eating twigs, unknown berries and whatever else he could get his tiny hands on.

The Abandonati
"The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window." I couldn't help myself, I had to go over and look within. There was one old man, sitting in a rotting armchair, his long beard blending into longer hair curling down his back. It was white, except for the dark orange and brown part around his mouth, dyed by spittle from the tobacco he chewed and spat into a spitoon by his chair. The rustic wood around the spitoon dyed a darker brown by globules missing the rim.
