Last Breath
"The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window." And it was a good thing it did. Claire was going out of her mind, with the car breaking down in the middle of the forest where there was no signal and Chris' fever going up, his cough getting worse.

The Calling at Belshire
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. A young woman had come to her old family home for the last time. Her family had left it in shambles the night they escaped, and she saw no reason to try to maintain a husk of her early years. She had long since moved out of the cabin but now she was looking for an item that might help entertain her. Armed with naught but small candle, the woman stepped lightly through the remains. With the shadows of her old room shying away from her meager flame, she placed the candle in the window and began her search through decades of dust and discarded curios. It wasn't long before she found her mark. A small, round mirror set in a silver stand. Its two sides rotating between a floral pattern and a flawless reflective surface.

Mad Malachi
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. It started when a full moon fell on Halloween and burned until Saint Walpurgis Night, when a new moon painted the sky black and the candle extinguished itself. The next Halloween, and every Halloween afterward, the cycle would begin anew.

The Legend of the Witch’s Candle
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. It reached between the tree limbs and caught Emma’s eye. She inhaled sharply. “Mommy, what’s that?” she queried, as they hiked nearer. Sasha felt her little girl tugging her toward the wavering light. Instinctively, she pulled Emma closer.

That’s Not Uncle Pete
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Alan’s Place had sat frozen in time, rotting slowly, undisturbed into the surrounding woods, since some time back in the fifties when the logging company that occasionally used it had closed shop and left New Brunswick for good. And in haste.
