ultra violence
For my occasional delight and relief from the real world you cant beat dome ultra violence. The difference between violent films and ultra violence is in the eye of the beholder but usually means close up and high quality images. Ones that don't look like they are made of plasticine and tomato ketchup.

A Child at Heart
I’ll be the first to admit that when it comes to television and movies, I’m all about animation. I’m an adult who adores cartoons, and the image above shows one of my all time favorite characters. Meet Bill. Bill Cipher to be precise. He’s the primary antagonist in a sonderful show called Gravity Falls, a show about a pair of twins experiencing the strange little town of Gravity Falls, Oregon. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it. It’s got a great storyline that arches over its two seasons. I promise you won’t guess where it is going.

Netflix’s ‘Strong Black Lead’: A Curation of the Best in Black TV & Film
Ask anyone who truly knows me, and they’ll tell you I’m a movie buff. I’ll give pretty much any movie or TV show a try. Give me action, comedy, historical dramas, and everything in between. I’ll even turn on closed captioning to watch a foreign language film (talk about a mental workout). Due to the pandemic lockdown, most people are making big plans for what they will do when things are back to “normal”. A trip to Punta Cana, an outdoor festival, or the next big sporting event is probably on the list. Me? I just want to sit in a movie theater again!

Give me a reason to move to a remote island and disconnect myself from technology
Let's try a visualization exercise (only don't close your eyes because you have to continue reading) : Picture a white sand beach—nothing for miles between the sand and the crystal clear lapping waves. The birds sing above in a majestic, beautiful way, entirely unlike the squawking of seagulls.

Going Down The Groundhog Hole
Let’s face it, 2020 was the longest 366 days of our lives. Yes, last year was a leap year, so we had an extra day in 2020. The pandemic has changed the way we live, how we work, and how we entertain ourselves. What’s left to do when an area that’s on lockdown? well, unless one is into video games, or playing board games/puzzles with the family, more likely a tone of streaming apps. We’ve probably watched more Netflix, Hulu, and Disney plus, between scrolling endlessly on social media, than we like to admit. Now it’s 2021, vaccinations are going slower than a powerful internet connection. People’s mental health is on a decline, as it seems we are reliving the same day over and over again repeatedly. Kind of like the film “Groundhog Day.”

School Daze & A Different World
School Daze & A Different World If you're from the eighties like I am, you might be familiar with the movie School Daze. And you might be familiar with the series A Different World upon which a few of the same actors from School Daze starred in like Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Tisha Campbell, and Darryl M. Bell.

WATCH LOVECRAFT COUNTRY...
I was considering just writing WATCH LOVECRAFT COUNTRY... NOW over and over to convey what your television priority should be. The show is that phenomenal that I am almost stumped on how to describe its perfection. I cannot compare it to any one movie or show because I genuinely have never seen anything like it. After the first episode I remember my response, mouth agape being “I am unsure of what I just watched.” My following thought was I will without question be tuning in next week to see where this story goes. The show pulled me in so forcefully and completely that I was rushing my life away to get from Sunday to Sunday. You are fortunate because you can just binge the whole season on HBO Max. Sure you will be emotionally overloaded and out of commission for the next few days, but you will not know the pain of the wait. I will type cautiously as to not let any spoilers seep from my fingers. My purpose is to give you a foundation on which you can be grounded in the substantial substance that Lovecraft Country awards its viewers.

If JoJo Rabbit, then Fleabag
Feelings: our ultimate TV guide I believe it is the feeling we seek that steers our movie or television choices. We select a story to feel love, to be thrilled, amused, inspired, optimistic, or comforted. Cinema can be our escape from feeling scared, lonely, sad, sorrowful; or it can be our excuse to feel scared, lonely, sad, or sorrowful. Through story, the screen in front of us allows us to connect to our emotions, and each other. How we felt when we first planted our bums on the couch, has changed, all of forty five minutes later. We travel through an array of feelings, and come back to the screen to feel it again. We watch television and movies to feel human.

5 Stranger Towns to Visit After Hawkins.... Third Place in If This, Then That Challenge. Top Story - March 2021.
I know. I KNOW. It’s been over a year since your last visit to Hawkins, Indiana. You miss Dustin. You’re itching to fly down Maple Street on your tricked-out BMX and what you wouldn’t give for a burger from Benny’s. Hawkins felt like home for three seasons so it’s no surprise that we’re experiencing a sort of homesickness for this strange little town. It all comes down to the milieu.
