Bachelor Australia alum Megan Marx, aged 35, is determined to explore every possible avenue to combat her rare, degenerative neurological condition.

Marx initially disclosed her diagnosis on Instagram in January 2023. Reflecting on her journey, she shared, "After months of waiting for genetic test results, I met with the neurologist. Spinocerebellar ataxia, a group of hereditary brain disorders, impacts the cerebellum and spinal cord, leading to coordination issues with physical movements. According to the Cleveland Clinic, the condition affects between one to five individuals out of every 100,000. Over time, it may impair vision, motor skills, speech, and mobility, with symptoms typically emerging after age 18 and gradually worsening over the years.
Although there’s no cure, treatment plans focus on alleviating symptoms and enhancing the quality of life.
