A Writing Exercise. Retelling Star Wars Episode VIII The Last Jedi (With Storyboards)

Act 1 - Scene 1

- Luke is meditating outside, it is the morning, the sun yet to rise, stars still visible. Flashes of Star Killer base come to him.

- He is tense as he senses Star Killer base is charging up their weapon. He grips his knees tighter and tighter.

- The base shoots its beam. His face starts to contort in pain. The sound of screaming rises . He is struggling to maintain composure The five planets are destroyed

- Luke is shaken. A look of despair comes onto him as he stops meditating. He is breathing heavily, clutching his chest from the shock of the event.

- At midday Luke walks to the sunken X-wing with regret on his face. The X-wing is inoperable. A wing destroyed. The cockpit shield shattered. Part of the nose crushed.

- Looking over the horizon he sees storm clouds approach him. He looks over to them apprehensively.

- During the night, Luke is eating in a stone hut, it is raining outdoors. He sees flashes of Han and Kylo on the bridge

- Fear starts to rise inside of him. He closes his eyes and concentrates. Han and Kylo are close and Luke senses the conflict in him.

- Luke is gripping on to the table tight. Kylo becomes determined.

- Luke begs Kylo to not despite knowing he cannot talk to him. Kylo ignites and kills Han.

- He lets out a bellow of pain as a force pulse erupts from him. The force pulse destroys the hut he is in. The rain soaks him. We can't tell where his tears end and the rain begins. We linger for a moment.

- In the morning Luke walks to the hill and looks out to the sea. This is the first time we hear him. He just says 'I'm sorry." From above he sees the Falcon arrive and land behind him. He closes his eyes, steeling himself.

- Rey comes up behind him and offers the light saber. He is still in pain as he walks up to her and accepts the light saber.

Act 1 - Scene 2

- The Rebellion is in a new fortified location. A mountain range facing an open plain.

- Poe is in the hangar on top of his x-wing, working on something. He is clearly distracted, constantly looking about.

- BB-8 is in the droid compartment. He is looking only at Poe, a sense of worry emanating from him. In the background are resistance members working on the x-wings. Mechanics running about. Droids following after, some with tools, others with material.

- Finn is still in recovery. Medics attending to others who are also present. Victims of a battle fought elsewhere.

- Leia is in the command room distracted. Akbar is present with her. As is C-3PO. They are waiting in anticipation.

- Poe tosses his wrench onto the pilots seat in frustration. He looks at BB-8, he looks right back at Poe. He asks BB-8 if he could have done more.

- It felt great to win at the time. Then you look at everyone that didn’t make it. BB-8 makes a few beeps, making Poe smile.

- He then asks when the fighting will be done. He is tired of having to bury his friends.

- Leia and Akbar are talking to a politician on a hologram. The Republic is wiped out. More planets are declaring independence. Some through the government. Some through less savoury means. And some because they have had enough of the fighting. The First Order is incredibly weakened. No planet base, no alles, and a handful of Star Destroyers. If they continue this fight the Resistance is alone from this point on. If they keep fighting there will be no refuge. Planets will be hostile to both the Rebellion and the First Order if conflict continues.

- Without another word the speaker cuts out. They remain quiet as they take in everything that has unfolded. Akbar asks what they should do. Leia admits she does not know.

- Finn wakes up from his coma.

Act 1 - Scene 3

- Kylo is in the throne room with Snoke, accompanied by the Knights of Ren. Kylo is kneeling in front of Snoke, with the Knights kneeling behind Kylo.

- Snoke is explaining that the loss of Star killer is unfortunate. That it has only postponed their goals. Though is still disappointed that an untrained scavenger managed to best him.

- Kylo vows that it was a moment of weakness that will not happen again.

- Snoke smiles as he looks at Kylo in particular. He admits it is a good time for him to complete the rest of his training. Snoke gives him his task. To fight the knights without a saber. Only the force.

- Kylo nods, accepting the task. To reach a level where Kylo is able to best them all.

- Kylo then looks to Snoke, determination oozing despite the mask. As you wish. Kylo and the knights stand up. The knights hold blunt weapons.

- Snoke tells Kylo to be careful. He has forged the knights new weapons that further amplify force abilities.

- He nods and turns to acknowledge his men. They wait for a moment to see who would make the first move. It was one of the Knights. The others did not wait for their turn as they all charged in unison.

- Kylo fights them and starts Strong. Dodging and weaving. Pushing the knights back with the occasional force push. As the fight carries on Kylo is on the ascendancy.

- Images of Han flashes by him. We even hear his voice speak his final words to him.

- His force abilities waver and he is hit by one of the knights. The onslaught carries on till the Knights are on top and Kylo is overwhelmed. The knight with the largest weapon hits him in full force.

- He is flung back hard and crashes against the wall cracking his mask.

- Snoke commands him to get up again. Snoke is unimpressed.

- Kylo takes in a deep breath and stands up as commanded to. He faces the knights again. Confident.

- This time the knights wait for him.

Act 1 - Scene 4

- Hux is in the meating room with the holograms of the remaining five generals. He is being updated on the status of the first order.

- Including the Supremacy they have. Five Star Destroyers. 40,000 troopers, 70 trooper transports , 329 Tie Fighters .

- One of the generals admits that most of the first order were either still on star killer when it was destroyed or were killed as a result of the debris from it.

- That it was a mistake to place their trust in it.

- Hux looks over to him, incredulous. Are you suggesting that it was my fault?

- Star killer was your responsibility, your fallacy of invincibility resulted in its and most of our mens demise. It’s as if you don’t care for them.

- I am proud of my men General, I will fight for them.

- So you say, but here you are while they are not. The tension continues to rise till another general speaks up. As a result of this, the allies we once had have all pulled out of our alliance.

- We do not need allies.

- And that is the arrogance that led to star killer Hux.

- That’s General Hux.

- We’ll see.

- The generals are seething.

- They admit that now all the information is laid out they have no more to say. That they will greet him next when they arrive.

- The holograms cut out without a goodbye from the others.

- Hux stays in place, taking it all in. Angry.

Act 2 - Scene 1

- Luke holds the lightsaber in his hands. He looks at it in disbelief. He then looks directly at Rey.

- Luke muses ‘for so long he has waited only for the force to summon him too late.’

- Rey wonders what he means by that.

- Luke walks back and sits on a rock looking out to the sea. He asks Rey to join him. Then asks for her name

- She answers.

- He then asks her for her family name.

- ‘I have no family name.’ She asks why he hid all this time.

- He explains that he came to reach a deeper understanding of the force. To grow stronger against the coming darkness. To trust in the force to summon him when it is deemed ready. He regrets that he could not save Han despite everything.

- She apologized.

- He tells her that it is not her fault.

- She was not strong enough to save him, despite being there. She wants to be stronger. Strong enough to kill Kylo.

- Luke looks at her for a moment, then asks why she is here.

- She answers to find him and bring him back.

- He asks why her specifically and not only of his other friends.

- ‘General Leia asked me to.’

- Luke smiles to himself. ‘General Leia’

- He turns back to Rey. He continues ‘Because you have the force. She wants you to learn’.

- He then holds up the light saber looking at it intently. He asks where she found it.

- She says Maz had it.

- He muses something to ask her another time.

- Chewie and R2 reach them. Luke turns and seeing them we see a mixture of happiness and sadness. He goes to them. With Luke and Chewie kneeling, they all hug each other. Luke apologizes for not being there to Chewie.

-He then turns to R2 ‘I missed you old friend.’

Act 2 - Scene 2

- Poe rushes into the medical wing followed by BB-8. He sees Finn struggling over the bed. A huge scar on his back.

- Finn is told that it is a miracle that he is able to move at all. He will not be able to move as he once did.

- Finn turns and sees Poe. They smile. Finn then looks to BB-8 and greets him.

- Poe asks why not any robotics.

- They reply that with the tools and material available the risks outweigh the benefits.

- Finn reassures it's alright. Changing subjects he asks, where's Ray?

- Poe says She, Chewie and R2 went to get Luke.

- Finn is relieved to hear that she is safe.

Act 2 - Scene 3

- Leia is in a meeting room with the remaining leaders. 3PO is present to record everything. They are talking, deciding what to do. There are only four left outside of Leia and Akbar.

- Four of the Generals want to leave. For Peace.

- Peace with constant fear. Akbar argues.

- ‘But Peace, after decades of war. It's time to rebuild and give up on this fight with the first order to satisfy your pride. We are not children of Vader that crave the fight’ One general speaks.

- ‘How dare you?' Akbar is livid.

- Even 3PO chimes in ‘That seemed a bit too excessive now didn’t it?’

- Leia had been quiet so far and held back Akbar. 'I cannot let the darkness be, to do as it wants. All of you have fought for So long. It's time you knew peace. you and your men deserve to go home.’

- One by one they bow, and start moving to the door. One of them looks at Leia. ‘I spoke in the heat of the moment. He bows I'm sorry princess, may you know peace and may the force be with you.’

- She smiles and replies in kind. He leaves.

- Leia, Akbar, and 3PO Stay for a moment in silence. 3PO breaks the silence first. ‘Honestly even I understand the Princess better.’

- This makes Leia smile. Akbar’s expression softens.

- She turns to Akbar and asks what he will do?

- He replies that he has fought alongside her for over 40 years and that she was not getting rid of him that easily.

- Leia then smiles and bows slightly to him in acknowledgement.

- Her expression then shifts slightly and she turns to look outside.

- Akbar sensing this turns to 3PO. ‘Come 3PO there is much that needs to be done.’ He then leaves the room with 3PO behind him, agreeing completely.

- Leia is left by herself in the room. A moment passes and she starts to cry, "I'm sorry Han’

Act 2 - Scene 4

- Hux is in the supremacy bridge, looking out into space. Steeling himself he makes his way to the throne room. Arriving outside the door opens. He sees Kylo fighting.

- His mask barely holding together exposes parts of his face.

- Snoke motions for them to stop. Looking directly at Hux he addresses him to come in.

- Hux nods and enters. Hux maintains eye contact with Kylo’s exposed eye as he walks to Snoke. He turns back to Snoke. Arriving in front of him Hux stands at the ready.

- Snoke admits that it was about time he came to him.

- Hux admits he wanted to reassemble the First Order first. Then send scouts to find the resistance.

- Snoke says it was time he was punished for his failure at Star Killer.

- Hux moves forward with the intention of making his case. However he is silenced and frozen in place by Snoke’s force power. Snoke reiterated that Hux is here for punishment not to offer excuses. Snoke then looks to Kylo. He tells Kylo to deliver the punishment. To execute Hux however he deems true.

- All the knights look at him. Even Hux looks at him in a nervous manner.

- Kylo ignites his lightsaber and walks next to him. His exposed eye looks at Hux.

- Hux is scared, and Kylo Hesitates. Snoke senses the hesitation. He then asks Kylo why he is waiting.

- Kylo pulls his saber away and kneels to Snoke. He suggests a decrease in rank instead. To earn back his position.

- Hux looks at Kylo in a shocked manner. Then shifts over to see what Snoke would do.

- Snoke smiles and agrees to this. However, goes further by placing Hux under Kylo’s command.

- Kylo argues he is not a knight.

- Snoke extends the reach of the force to the entire room. He starts choking everyone. He warns Kylo to not push too far.

- Kylo struggles to nod. In return they are all able to breath again.

- Hux is freed from Snoke’s grip.

- As everyone recovers he tells Kylo to find and bring any family Rey has left. No matter the means.

Act 3 - Scene 1

- It is raining so hard that one can barely see a few meters ahead. The waves are rough and crash against the rock.

- Rey is under some cover close to the sea level. Everything around is soaked completely. Including Rey. Despite this she is looking out smiling in wonder.

- Luke joins her as she is letting the droplets hit her outstretched hand. He enjoys the glee that is on her face as the rain hits her. He asks her where she is from.

- She answers Jokoo.

- He replies tatooine.

- She turns to him, happy. ‘A desert planet"

- He nods with a smile. He then reaches out to let the droplets hit his hand. Joining her.

- She’s almost in tears.‘I never imagined there would be so much water in any world."

- He replies "I know exactly what you mean." ‘While we’re here.’ He then points to a gathering of stones below. He asks her to lift one with the force. He demonstrates it by doing so himself.

- She says that she already pulled the lightsaber to her.

- He counters. ’Your instincts know how to do it, now you need to teach your mind to do it on command.'

- She tries and it only wiggles below.

- He tells her that they will stay till she does it.

- She tries once more. Then again. And again. And again. Losing more composure. She gets frustrated and gives up. 'This is ridiculous, I beat Kylo.'

- ‘You beat a Kylo that was injured and unstable in his mind, heart, and the force. you were lucky.'

- Annoyed, she sits down.

- He too sits down with her.

- They spend a moment simply looking out into the sea. The strength of the rain is starting to dissipate.

- He asks her. ‘what's bothering you Rey, what has always bothered you?"

- A pained expression on her "why did my parents leave me?"

- He takes a moment. ‘when all this is over, let's go find out."

- She smiles feeling comforted. The sun slowly creeps out.

- Luke admits that it is time they left.

Act 3 - Scene 2

- Poe helps Finn to the hangar and they sit together. Around them resistance members are running around. Working on the various equipment around.

- Poe asks Finn what he will do now?

- Finn replies that he will wait for Rey.

- And then?

- He will say goodbye and leave.

- Just like that?

- Finn explains that he left the first order, not to fight with the rebellion, but to live a life where he doesn't have to fight.

- He helped bring down the Star Killer base.

- To Save Rey. The fact that he played a role in its destruction haunts him.

- Why?

- When Star Killer was destroyed so were everyone that he grew up with.

- Poe points out that he did not have any trouble when telling them the weaknesses.

- Finn stays quiet. It felt surreal at the time. So much had happened in so little time. He was only thinking of Rey and saving her. Now that he has had time to think , all of it is hitting him all together.

- Poe looks at Finn, then he looks out to the sky above. Poe points out that he lost friends too. For the sake of this war. For the sake of peace. They have to fight and live with that burden.

- They see people in despair in the crowd. Some cry as they work. Some staring into space with a hollow expression on them.

- Poe is breaking down as he carries on. We all know the cost, the sacrifice. For peace.

- Finn wraps his arm around him. Poe in turn wraps his own arm around Finn. 'I want to end the fighting too Finn, but to do that we have to fight, or else we'll always be living in fear.'

- Finn looks ruefully. ‘I don't want to take anymore life." They look at each other.

- Around them there's movement as ships and men move out. The two look around confused. Poe stops one of the resistance members. He asks what is going on?

- He is told the four factions are leaving.

Act 3 - Scene 3

- Poe bursts into command to see Leia. He demands to know what's going on.

- Akbar attempts to intervene however is stopped by her letting Poe continue.

- He asks why they are leaving? How will they fight? How can they win? What is the plan?

- When Poe is finished Leia explains what is happening.

- We can see the hope drain from Poe’s face. Even Finn is surprised. He looks to Poe to see how he is taking it.

- When Leia is finished Poe is silent. His expression changes from hopeless to anger. Poe calls them cowards.

- Finn explains they are not cowards for wanting to live in peace.

- Leia agrees. Leia also admits that they will continue to fight. We see the ships leaving behind her. ‘I've been thinking that it's time for new blood to take command."

- We see Poe with the remnants of the Rebellion gathering behind him.

- Leia addresses him for the first time as. 'General Poe Damron.'

Act 3 - Scene 4

- Kylo is in his chambers meditating. He keeps seeing the moment he stabbed Han. He looks sorrowful for a moment. Taking in a breath he composes himself. He is informed that the star destroyers have arrived by Hux. Kylo acknowledges this and asks to be kept up to date.

- Hux asks to talk to him. After a moment's thought Kylo agrees.

- Hux enters and stands by the door, respecting Rank. Kylo nods.

- Hux relaxes his posture somewhat and sits on the chair. Kylo asks why he wanted to talk.

- Hux in turn asks why he did not take his life. Kylo answers that he already gave his reason to Snoke with Hux present.

- Hux presses. The real reason. Kylo responds that he did not want to.

- Hux muses that there was a time he gladly would have. Kylo admits not then.

- Regardless, Hux is greatful. He then goes on to ask. Does the Supreme leader care about the troopers. Kylo remains quiet as he lets Hux continue.

- He has only ever cared about you and others with the force. We seem to exist only to draw out his targets. Kylo asks if Hux doubts Snoke.

- Hux responds. I care about my men, I am proud of them, I may be hard on them. but I will fight for them. Will he fight for us? Kylo stays quiet.

- Do you doubt him, Kylo? Kyle looks right at him.

- 'If you don't I would be dead’ . Kylo asks how strongly he doubts.

- Hux responds that he believes in the first Order. The galaxy needs a military to protect it from itself. Though after Snoke was so ready to kill him. He is wondering about those who lead them. Kylo admits that he too is having doubts.

- They remain silent in each other's presence. A sense of comradery coming from this silence.

- Kylo gets a message. The scouts have found the base of the Rebellion.

Act 4 - Scene 1

- Rey is practicing with the lightsaber. Chewie and Luke are looking intently. She blocks the incoming shots with the helmet on. She opens the visor and looks at Luke.

- He smiles and nods. ‘Well done.’

- She is beaming as she then sits with them. Chewie praises her.

- Luke takes a moment to hold the practice dummy in his hand. He looks at it in a nostalgic manner. ‘This is where my master Obi Wan gave me my first lesson.’

- Chewie lets out a roar. Luke chuckles. ‘I suppose we have come far since then.’

- Rey takes a moment. ‘Why did you leave in the first place?’ Chewie whines also interested.

- Luke places a hand on R2 stroking his dome. A look of melancholy comes over him. He starts.

- After things calmed down he set up a new Jedi academy. Ben and a few others were the first he took on as students. This first group formed a strong bond. They are together even today. As the Knights of Ren.

- The others were not especially strong in the force. Not like Ben was. Luke smiles, ‘Though that was not all he was good at.’ Reaching into his robes, Luke pulled out another Lightsaber. ‘Ben built this, just like how I built my own.’ Luke smiles with pride. ‘He was taking the path of the Jedi.’

- After he did this, he got the Knights together in secret. Together they forged weapons that amplified their use of the force. ‘They wanted to surprise me. And I was’ Things were going great. ‘We all knew a sense of peace.’

- Over the years the number of students increased. ‘Perhaps this period of peace blinded me, dulled me.’ Eventually a new student arrived, incredibly gifted. ‘Gifts I’ve not seen since the emperor, and Vader.’ Again he smiles, ‘Like Anakin, like my father.’

- Rey asks in surprise ‘Vader was your father?’ Luke nods.

- ‘He did terrible things, and in the end, he chose to let all of it go, so that for the first time in his life he could be a father, and that was the last thing that he ever did.’

- The rest stay silent for a moment. He then continues.

- Over time Kylo and his friends gathered around this new student. He had a way with people. Had a way of making people feel good being around him. Had a way of making them do what he wanted. This was Snoke.

- He had been spending years gathering followers working covertly. Building the first order. There were incidents of babies going missing around the time Ben was born. We never found them, but now we know what happened to them.

- It took months, nearly a year. Slowly Snoke turned Ben against me. His friends followed. When I realized who Snoke was, it was too late.

- The night I realized, a platoon of troopers attacked the academy. I looked for Ben but couldn’t find him. Instead I found Snoke. He looked satisfied. It was a battle. My Students against the troopers. He told me that Kylo would be coming with him, along with his Knights.

- I had no idea what he was talking about at the time. Before I could ask him, he started attacking. I fought Snoke.

- Turned out that Kylo and his Knights were fighting my students. Alongside the troopers. Kylo killed them all, and the Knights helped him.

- I was pushing Snoke back. Hurt him. Scarred him. He just wouldn't go down.

- Kylo and the Knights arrived, he held his red lightsaber. ‘I was too focused on Snoke to notice what the others had.’

- They stood with Snoke. ‘When Kylo removed his mask I saw that it was Ben. He looked at me with hate.’

- I asked him what he is doing? He told me that he was going to finish what Vader started. I was petrified. He said he hated me for not telling him who his grandfather was. That was when I realized why Snoke was so satisfied with himself. He turned Ben using the thing me and Leia were waiting to tell him.

- A transport came down shooting. I used the force to make sure I was not hit. I watched as Kylo put on his mask and left with Snoke and the Knights. When they left they had burned everything.

- R2 came to me and we were the only ones left. We watched everything that we built burn. I knew that the darkness was coming. That I needed to get stronger.

- So I gave R2 a piece of the map, and sent the other piece to an old friend. I sent it with a message telling him to come find me when things seemed at its darkest.

- After I sent the message I used the force to shut down R2 till the force knew that it was time for me to return. Till the force knew I was strong enough.

- Luke then looks at Rey, Chewie, and R2 in turn. ‘I am strong enough now.’

Act 4 - Scene 2

- Poe splashes some water on his face and looks in the mirror. Overwhelmed, shocked. He wipes his face and looks at himself. He still cannot believe that this is happening. He psyches himself up and leaves.

- He enters the hangar. It feels a lot more empty now that the four factions have left. Seeing that the new general has arrived everyone stops and looks at him.

- Leia and Finn are looking from above from a walkway by the control room.

- He looks over everyone and takes in a deep breath. He attempts to give a rousing speech.

- They are alone. Everyone here is all that's left. It seems hopeless. It's the same for the first order. They have no more allies than the resistance. Even though it seems hopeless for the first time the battlefield is even. We managed to win when we were outnumbered. Imagine what we can do now. And lets not forget we still have Princess Leia. A cheer. Rey is bringing Luke Skywalker to us. Another louder cheer.

- Even Leia smiles at this. The prospect of seeing her brother again after so long.

- Lets’ show the first order just what we can do. The loudest cheer yet. Poe smiles and joins in with their cheer. With that everyone starts to work again with vigor.

- Leia is impressed and she goes back to the command room. Finn follows Leia. She looks over to him. ‘We never got a chance to speak properly.'

- Leia sits and invites Finn to join her. 'We had a lot of rebels that were former members of the empire, You're the first to defect from the first order."

- Finn admits that he is not defecting.

- 'Then what are you doing?’

- He hesitates and looks away. He is waiting for Rey. Then after saying goodbye he is leaving.

- She admins that when she was younger she was like Poe. Finn asks ‘And now?’

- ‘There is a strength in choosing not to run into battle, to protect those you care about instead of an ideal.’ I have lost so much and kept fighting still. She then asks why he left the first order.

- He admits that it was a feeling, that taking life was wrong.

- She asks if he knows where he will go? He admits he does not.

- A member of the resistance comes up to them. The first order is coming.

- Leia turns to Finn. ‘What will you do? Stay for Rey or leave now? If you are leaving, now is your chance.’

- Finn is conflicted and looks out to everyone rushing to and fro.

Act 4 - Scene 3

- Kylo is in the throne room with Hux and Snoke. They are heading towards the last base of the Resistance.

- Kylo is addressing Snoke. The knights have found the parents and are heading to the location.

- Snoke nods in approval. Taking in a deep breath he asks Kylo if he felt it.

- Kylo nods, a great power is approaching. Luke Skywalker is almost there. This will not be easy.

- Kylo promises not to fail him. Snoke smiles. I will be joining the battlefield.

- Both Kylo and Hux are surprised. He admits that he will be leading the men.

- Hux has a worried look on his face. 'Is that necessary?’

- Snoke turns to Hux sharply. ‘The last time you led, we lost our most powerful weapon, and most of our men. Yes Hux, it is necessary’ Snoke walks past them and out of the room.

- Kylo and Hux follow after him. Entering the hanger Snoke is greeted by men standing at the ready.

- His hologram on the rest of the star destroyers. He addresses the men.

- He admits the prior loss. That Luke Skywalker has returned. And not to worry. This time he will join the battle too. That victory will be swift. That the first Order will bring peace to the galaxy.

- The men start cheering. Hux and Kylo look on, taking it all in. We see the cheering on all five ships.

- They destroyed those who brought instability into the galaxy. A false pretense of a republic. Today they destroy that Parasitic ideology itself.

- The loudest cheering yet.

- Prepare for battle. Alongside the cheers troopers run to their various stations. Snoke looks on smiling confident.

- Hux and Kylo behind him tense.

Act 5 - Scene 1

- Poe is in the hanger. There are two squads. X-wings and ground assault. Both groups are getting ready in their own way. A lookout from above shouts that a ship is coming. Poe asks if it is First Order.

- We see the falcon approach the base. Rey and Chewie piloting while Luke and R2 are behind them. Luke is looking out to the base, eagerness on his face. Chewie lets out a roar. Luke responds.'Yes we are.'

- They slow down and land towards the rear of the hanger. Crowds gather around the Falcon. The resistance members are excited to see Luke.

- Leia and Finn join Poe. Leia smiles looking forward to seeing his brother again. Finn is nervous looking forward to seeing Rey.

- The ramp lowers and Luke exits first. Elation from the crowd.

- Luke looks around meeting everyone's eyes, finally reaching Leia. Luke smiles.

- Acknowledging the crowd he moves towards the three.

- Behind him Rey and Chewie exit with R2. She sees Finn and runs to him. Passing Luke she hugs him. 'You're ok.’

- ;As ok as I can be,’ he replies. They hug for a moment longer and let go.

- Luke reaches them. He looks to Leia first. 'I'm sorry.'

- ‘I know’

- He turns to Poe, and Poe speaks first. 'It's an honour.’

- 'I've heard a lot about you.'

- Poe is surprised.

- ‘When all this is done let's see who’s the better pilot."

- Poe awkwardly smiles and nods. Luke then goes to Finn. 'You I've heard the most about’

- Finn looks at him surprised.

- 'How well have you healed?'

- 'Not very.'

- 'Best sit this one out then' Finn says nothing. 'We all have to fight at some point, just a matter of finding out how and why.'

- Luke then leaves with Leia. Poe admits it's good to see Rey again and leaves. Rey admits how good it is to see Finn again. Finn admits likewise.

- Alarms Sound off and a shout yells the first order has arrived. Finn and Rey look to each other, when this is all over they will catch up properly.

Act 5 - Scene 2

- The knights walked to the throne room with two people in shackles. Snoke is sitting with Kylo and Hux on either side. He praises the knights on doing well to find the two. He orders two of the knights to guard them.

- Snoke boards the ship of the knights of ren along with kylo, hux and the knights. Trooper transports and tie fighters leave. Among them is Snoke’s transport.

- They fall through the atmosphere. They are above the base. Anti air fires up. This destroys some of the Tie fighters and a couple of the transports.

- The first order fliers take evasive maneuvers. They disperse and regroup a distance away from the base.

- A small platoon is outside the blast doors inside trenches. X-wings filter out from the side of the natural defense, and hover above. The anti air guns point at the first order.

- Luke right at the rear with Rey, who is holding onto his lightsaber. Looking at the force in front of them Luke asks if Rey is sure. Rey responds that she is.

- Behind the tie fighters the transports lower themselves. All the troopers filter out and stand in rank. Snoke, Kylo, and the Knights at the forefront. Hux remained in the ship commanding the force at large. Both sides wait in anticipation.

- Luke nods to Rey. Together they start to walk. First reaching the troops.

- Poe looks on nervously. Leia is sitting in the Falcon with Akbar, 3PO and R2. Worried holding Ben’s lightsaber. Finn is sitting in the cockpit with Chewie.

- Luke is moving beyond the troops with Rey. In turn Snoke too moves forward with Kylo and the knights. Both groups walk till they are close to each other.

- Snoke is the first to speak. ‘It has been so long.’

- Luke replies ‘It has.’

- He then turns to Kylo. Snoke turns to find Kylo is avoiding eye contact.

- ‘No one else has to fight.’ Luke declares.

- Snoke turns his attention back to Luke. ‘You suggest the two of us fight instead.’ Luke nods. ‘To what end? I have the superior force, both in training and numbers.’

- ‘To end the fight we had so many years ago.’

- Snoke smiles. ‘When I win, I want all of the resistance, and I want her.’ Snoke nods to Rey.

- ‘If you win, we won’t be able to stop you anyway’ Snoke smiles, looks at Rey. Rey is looking at Kylo with a murderous intent. ‘Do you have something to say to Kylo?’

- Rey does not look away from Kylo, then shakes her head. Snoke then tries to probe. ‘So you do not bl---’

- Snoke is interrupted by Luke. ‘Your fight is with me, remember.’ Snoke smiles and nods. ‘Of course.’

- Luke then continues. ‘When you lose, the first order has to submit to the resistance.’ Snoke nods with a smile.

- He then turns to his men and nods. The knights and Kylo take steps back giving the two masters space.

- Luke then looks to Rey. She is still seething towards Kylo. He calls out to her. She shifts her attention to Luke, finally. He then nods. She takes a moment, and she too takes a step back.

- Once sufficiently away she stops. It is only Luke and Snoke standing close. The energy around them rises as they exude the force. The dirt on the floor itself seemed to lift and hover in the air.

- They are ready to fight.

Act 5 - Scene 3

- Snoke slowly got into a fighting position. The ground beneath him was vibrating. Luke too gets into a fighting position. Neither one with a lightsaber, only their fists and the force.

- Poe looks on in anticipation.

- The vibration beneath Snoke ceases. Luke’s gaze sharpens. Snoke moves with inhuman speed. Luke deflects the palm that was coming towards his face.

- The force is fired from the palm of Snoke’s hand. Luke in turn counters with a palm full of the force. The two remain at close quarters. Each blow directed at them with their palms, charged with the force. Deflecting, dodging, and weaving.

- The strength of the force makes the ground near the knights vibrate. One of them falls to their knees, struggling to maintain composure. The ground itself was starting to be ripped up in chunks, floating.

- Luke is starting to gain the upper hand. Snoke is slowing, struggling to keep up. Breaking through Snoke’s defence, Luke grabs forward with the force. Snoke dodges to the side. Luke turns his hand and sends out another pulse dazing Snoke. In response Snoke uses both hands to send out a strong force pulse to push Luke back. Snoke, and Luke are breathing heavy.

- Rey’s eyes are only on Kylo, her anger fueling her. It is only Kylo and Rey still standing as the knights are on the floor. The weight of the force only grows heavier the longer the fight lasts.

- Poe is looking anxious to see what the outcome will be.

- Luke increases the amount of the force he is exuding. Snoke in turn is forced to his knee.

- Even Rey buckles under the pressure. Seeing Kylo managing to stay standing only angers her further.

- Luke approaches Snoke letting loose a burst of the force keeping him down.

- Kylo is struggling, the wound from Chewie's bowcaster hurting from the pressure. Taking in jagged breath he moves his hand towards his old wound. Rey sees Kylo reaching in the direction of his lightsaber. She does not hesitate, and ignites the lightsaber.

- Snoke sees this and smiles. Luke turns to see this, and the force everyone is burdened by dissipates.

- Even Kylo falls to his knees in relief holding his old wound. Seeing this Rey realizes what she has done. ‘Oh no.’

- Snoke turns Luke. In his distracted state he manages to use the force to blast him away. Snoke then turns to his men. ‘Kill them all.’

Act 5 - Scene 4

- The troopers charge as resistance fighters start firing. The troopers pull out and hold shields in front of them. The blasts get deflected as they charge forward. Poe dodges and weaves expertly.

- Luke stands up with Rey, she looks remorseful. ‘I’m Sorry.’

- ‘He had no intention of honoring anything, you did what you thought was right.’

- Rey relaxes hearing this.

- Kylo, and the knights recover and stands up, as Kylo looks over to Rey. He walks next to Snoke and ignites his lightsaber, pointing towards Rey.

- Rey sees the challenge and accepts as she points her lightsaber at him Luke tells her to be careful. If she's overwhelmed, to run. Before Luke finished, she ran to Kylo in anger.

- One of the knights launches themselves up and brings down their enormous weapon. Luke steps back dodging, as the remaining knights follow.

- Rey swings her lightsaber and Kylo parries with ease and follows up with a force burst. Rey is blown back and is thrown on the floor. Kylo stands strong.

- The four knights continue to attack in a barrage of attacks. Luke is being pushed back as he is blocking and parrying using the force. Each move by the knights making it seem like a choreographed dance. Each movement by Luke, matching the rhythm of the barrage.

- Poe sees the number of TIE fighters start to thin in number. Paying attention to the number of X-wings they are barely on top. At this rate they will still lose.

- The troopers are almost at the trenches, bodies are scattered on no man’s land. The closer the troopers get the more fighters are hit. The ones with the shields are the first to reach the trenches. Some are overwhelmed by the sheer number of blasts hitting their shield. This causes them to lose their poise, breaking their guard and being shot.

- Rey swings her lightsaber wildly, and this time Kylo blocks it. ‘I’ll kill you for what you did.’

- ‘Careful, you are starting to sound like one of the dark side.’

- ‘I don’t care what I sound like, I want you dead.

- Luke sees an opening and moves fast. The knight with the large blunt weapon had the full force of one of Luke's pulses. As a result he was stunned, breaking the knights rhythm. This allowed Luke to take a step back while pulling the stunned knight with him.

- The knights had no time to react. He used a force pulse against his helmet, denting it, and tossing him to the floor. He is not moving, and the knights halt their movement.

- Meanwhile Snoke reaches for the blast doors and tries to rip them from the mountains. Finn and Chewie look at the blast doors worried. The seams crack and the metal groans. Finn suggests they start up the Falcon.

- With the greater numbers Poe senses the TIE fighters start to overwhelm. He tells the others to look around, and bring the TIE fighters to the anti air guns. The X-wings start to coordinate in the air, and the TIE fighters follow. As they lead the fighters around, the anti air guns stop shooting. Poe is confused.

- Snoke has one hand directing the force to the anti air guns. Preventing them from firing, building up the pressure inside them.

- Alarms start to ring out, and the hanger is bathed in red. The two anti air guns are destroyed as bathes the hangar ceiling, coming down.

- Finn starts to open the hangar door. The doors come clean off of the hinges. They out of the hole, followed by a blast of fire. The fighters and the troopers take cover. Those in no mans land stop and look too.

- The Falcon joins the fight, dodging and weaving as blasts come out from the guns. Both Leia and Akbar are manning the two guns.

- The knights recover and start attacking Luke, this time with just the three of them. Snoke lowers himself, significantly weakened, and makes his way back.

- Rey is exhausted, yet determined while Kylo still looks at his peak. Kylo tells her that she cannot win, and she tells him that she did beat him. She charges and Kylo uses the force to block her swing. In a swift movement he swings and cuts Rey’s saber arm clean, she screams.

- This distracts Luke, and one of the knights gets through his defense, winding him. He brings up his hands, and both his forearms are struck by the second. The first manages to get behind him and hits Luke’s back. The third comes around to hit the back of his head. At the last possible moment Luke sends out a pulse to protect himself. Regardless, upon the two forces contant, Luke is thrown to the ground.

- Kylo steps next to Rey and using the force knocks her out. He then carries her back towards Snoke's transport.

- Snoke enters the command room, and Hux in turn takes a step back. Snoke praises Hux then orders four star destroyers to enter the atmosphere.

- Poe sees that everyone is being overwhelmed. He gets a message from the ground. They are not able to hold on much longer, and there’s no retreat. The X-wings are still being destroyed despite the Falcon joining them. He looks forward and sees even Luke is overwhelmed. with Rey being taken. He communicates to the Falcon, and asks if they could pick up the ground troops.

- They respond, not without cover. Poe then looks at the distance between Luke and the rest of the men. The beacon of hope or the majority of their fighting force. He makes his choice, and asks Finn to get Luke, that he would cover him. Finn accepts .

- He then tells the remaining X-wings to prepare to jump to lightspeed. They all respond in turn. Getting ready. Nearly in tears. He tells the ground force to surrender once they leave. To live, at all cost. ‘Understood general, we’ll be waiting, may the force be with you. '

- Luke is on the ground breathing heavy. The knights are standing over him, weapons at the ready. They look up to see the Falcon race to them while firing at the knights. Picking up their unconscious knight they make their way back. Far above the star destroyers become visible.

- Snoke then orders the four Star Destroyers to rain down blasts. Hux protests that troopers are still out there. Snoke scowls at him, ‘Know your place Hux.’

- Luke senses this. The four destroyers hover in place. The Falcon lands and the platform lowers, Finn struggling over. Luke holds up his hands and uses the force.

-Blasts rain down, shredding X-wings, and TIE fighters, while destroying the trenches. Poe weaves his way through the rain of blasts, barely surviving. Screaming.

- Hux steps forward and tells them to cease fire. Snoke in rage force chokes Hux. The blasts stop coming down.

- Poe takes in a breath in relief and sees that there are no fighters around him. They have all been destroyed. Looking to the trenches he sees that there are no survivors. Despair comes over him as tears run down his cheeks.

- Luke holds all the blasts around them in the air. Luke musters up his strength, as the blaster bolts held by the force are pushed back. With one powerful surge of the force he repels all of them back to the destroyers.

- Alarms sound off and tossing Hux back Snoke turn to see what it is. The four star destroyers are destroyed and are falling down.

- Finn steps in front of an exhausted Luke. He asks where Rey is. Luke is breathing heavy. Then tells him that she was taken. Finn declares that they are not leaving without her.

- ‘None of us are in any state to keep fighting them. If we do, we will all die.’ Finn looks at Snoke’s transport. Then turns to look at the Falcon, as Poe arrives to meet them. He makes his choice, he helps Luke up and enters the Falcon.

- Kylo watches with Rey in his arms as the Falcon and X-wing jump to hyperspace.

Act 5 - Scene 5

- Akbar is trying to comfort Luke. Leia is in the cockpit with Chewie and R2. Poe is in the X-wing crying and screaming. Finn is looking out blankly crying . The falcon continues through light speed.

- Surrounded by enemies Rey gets to her knees determined, the two prisoners next to her. Holding her arm against her. Snoke looks at her Satisfied. Everyone is quiet.

- She asks why not kill her? Snoke tells her that he could help her. Join him and he will take away the pain. That he would make her strong enough that she won’t get hurt again.

- She would rather die. Snoke reveals he spoke to unkar plutt. ‘Told me a great deal.’

- Rey ignores what he is saying. You’re best off killing me because eventually I will kill you. She turns to Kylo, ‘And I will definitely kill you.’ Snoke smiles. 'I like your spirit."

- He nods and two knights approach the two others. They are whimpering, scared. She demands to know what he is doing.

- Snoke orders the knights to stop, then asks Rey why she cares about them. Rey tells him to let them go, they are nobody.

- He agrees laughing. Snoke then asks if letting them go is what she wants. She is confused.

- They are his gift to her. To do as she wishes. He reveals that they are her parents. She is stunned and calls him a liar.

- 'Look inside yourself child. You know the truth. Luke must have taught you that much!’ She hesitates and looks at the two. A mixture of emotion brings her to tears.

- She then moves close to them. Snoke smiles knowingly.

- She calls out to them "mother" and "father." They look at her questioningly. The woman speaks to Rey. I'm sorry which one are you?

- Rey is stunned. Disbelief. She slumps. Crying.

- ‘They sold all of their children to slavery for drinking money’ Snoke revealed gleefully. Rey's face drains of emotion. Hollow tears run down. ‘You were nothing but an object to sell to them.’ Snoke continues wanting to break her further.

- She is broken. Her eyes are uncaring as she looks at them. A strong burst of the force erupts. Everyone is frozen in place. Struggling.

- Both Luke and Finn sit up and look to each other as they too sense this.

- Rey stands emotionless, yet tears still run. She turns and uses the force to pull one of the knight's great weapons.

- The huge great sword-like weapon is stripped from the knight. Catching it with one hand she uses the momentum to bring it over and kill her mother.

- Kylo looks stunned. The father screams. A thud. Silence. Snoke smiles. With every thud in the silence we see everyone's reaction.

- Luke is experiencing horror as Finn is.

- Rey takes a step back, drops the weapons and falls to her knees. Empty. The strength of the force dissipates. Everyone takes a breath again. Snoke approaches her, and kneels. ‘I will treat you as if you were my own.'

- Let me teach you how to get rid of the pain. My child. Snoke holds her in a gentle embrace. And smiles.
