Video Games and Kids: Surprising Benefits Explained

Many adults imagine hours wasted in front of a glowing screen, children ignoring homework, or endless arguments about bedtimes. But the truth is much more layered than that. Computer games, when approached with balance and thought, can bring children real benefits — from improving their cognitive skills to helping them socialize in ways we don’t always expect. Creative Flaws and Quirks to Make Your D&D Character Stand Out
When most players create a Dungeons & Dragons character, they focus on race, class, and stats. Strength scores, spell lists, and weapon proficiencies often take center stage. But if you want your character to live in your players’ and Dungeon Master’s minds long after the campaign ends, the real secret isn’t in the numbers—it’s in the flaws, quirks, and eccentricities you give them.

40 Years of Super Mario - Part 1: The 1980s
It’s September 2025 and Super Mario is forty years old. The first game in the series, the legendary Super Mario Bros. was released for the Famicom on 13th September 1985, one of the first games for Nintendo’s earliest true home console. It wouldn’t arrive on the Nintendo Entertainment System – the western version of the Famicom – until the following year in North America, as a launch title for the system, and not in PAL regions such as the UK and Europe until 1987. Regardless, the game was instrumental in revitalising the American video games market, which had suffered an almost lethal crash in 1983 due to a glut of low quality systems and games.

The Witcher vs Laser Beams
I've started playing The Witcher III: Wild Hunt - and quickly stopped playing it -approximately 17 times. Maybe 18 times. I've lost count really. Which is fitting for a game that requires you to keep track of approximately 17,000 different quests, characters, and locations across multiple massive areas.

Running Faster Battles is a Matter of Planning
Combat can be the bane of any game. A badly run combat can slow a game down, making an otherwise fun session boring and more of an annoyance. However, if the players and referee don’t mind a little preparation ahead of time and some extra teamwork, combats can be run quicker and much more efficiently. With a few basic options, combats will run much smoother and thus faster, allowing everyone to enjoy the entire session.
