A Story Of Dark Thoughts

He stands on the top of the cliff. Here used to be safe but it is crumbling and the cliff is moving closer to the houses. One day they will be wreckage at the bottom of this promontory.
Looking at the bloodstained beach below he sees many bodies broken and twisted, with no life left in them.
Why were they there what had happened?
He knew and it made him sad because he knew he would soon be joining them when the ground beneath his feet gave way.
Another had convinced them that they could fly if they jumped from this cliff.
He didn't know if the dark one had given them drugs, drink or hypnotized them but he had promised them that they could fly and they took him at his word and believed they could fly wherever they wanted.
He thought how sad it was how people were so seduced by the words of charlatans and salesmen.
People had bought these houses, ignorant of the fact that in three months they would piles of bricks on the beach below burying the bones and bodies already there.
He stood there, with no reason to leave.
He would wait, and when the ground crumbled he would fall, he would not fly.
He would become one with the bones and bodies on the beach and later thety would all be buried under soil and bricks when the houses fell.....

I had visions of lemurs while reading this
So sad all the houses are crumbling! Fantastic tale
And at last the broken bodies & bones shall find their home. It'll be on top of them, but they'll be home. I once read an article about how all these wealthy people want that ocean view & build their mansions near cliffs that are not too slowly being eroded away, only to want the government to shore them up & protect them as soon as the peril becomes immanent. It's one thing when the poor can only afford to live in a flood plain, it's another thing entirely when the wealthy expect the government to bail them out & save their property for something so easily foreseen.
Enjoyed this Mike - not sure what it says about me :) I'm digging the twist into the dark side! Very satisfying and so many potential wonderful metaphors for some (alot) of this world right now π
This has an apocalyptic feel, Mike.
