1st Edition: Originally Published on Vocal Media in 2021 2nd Edition: December, 9th 2025 - I am dreaming of data screens, metal shapes, floating numbers, bulging muscles, and the allure of fat-slimmed, rippling-bodied figures. A shock interrupts my heaven. My eyes open to a familiar ceiling, in familiar quarters, in a familiar, floating, apartment building. An alarm resounds throughout the bare, white walls- made blue by the hue of the nightlight. I am delighted to exchange Heaven for a treasure of equal weight.

Five for Five?
1. Patricia and the schoolyard: I first saw her at Our Lady of Perpetual Agony when we were both about begin Grade One. Ms. Pappercock was a kind lady, and she looked upon me with some favour when she saw how well I could keep my handwriting within the lines of the notebooks she handed out. And that might have been the reason why she put Patricia next to me in the classroom after the first month passed. A lot of people thought this was odd, but I remembered that she organized the class according to the grades we received. Patricia and I (I mean, “me”) were both near the front of the class. Not quite Straight-A Sweeties – Ms. P.’s course – but pretty close. But the year was long, and there was a lot we could do to get those front seats.

The Color She Chose
By the time she finished mopping the main floor, Cindy’s back ached. She rubbed her sore hands together and paused. The white floors sparkled like never before, and the entire house was finally spotless. Her stepmother and stepsisters had been gone for two consecutive days, which meant she could actually clean without them walking through mud or spilling champagne everywhere.
