Love
The Weekend
“We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A framed cabin. Joe was brimming with anticipation. For he was now, after ten years of living as man, and wife finally ready to propose and officially make Kayla his wife. The pair were conversation less as they approached their Airbnb. Kayla looked over at joe who seemed unusually giddy, was bobbing his head to the music. Kayla was restless, not just in this moment, but with their relationship, and with life in general. This was the couples second vacation together in ten years. She looked at Joe feeling a bit of pity for him he was so happy and yet so dangerously unaware that this was to be their last getaway together. Kayla had over the ten years gotten away on her own. In fact, over the ten years had done too much alone. She had expressed her dis- satisfaction on numerous occasions. However, he made no change. The closer they got to the cabin the more she began to dread the outcome of this weekend. They pulled up, and It was by no means average. Kayla looked over at Joe again but this time with a worried look. Babe this place is beautiful. Joe proudly replied I know and you haven’t even seen the inside yet. This must have been really expensive she said. Joe hopped out the car, come on babe I'll get the bags, you go on inside. Joe hands Kayla a key, she takes the key, pausing for a moment. Joe how do you already have the ke? Oh, they mailed it to me, go inside.

OUTFOXED
We drove up the snowy, winding road toward the cozy A-frame cabin. I’m not the anxious type, but the closer to the Airbnb I had rented for the weekend we came, the more nervous I felt. This was the weekend. She would either say yes or no. It was frightening how much power one word could command. That one word would spell a new beginning for us or a quick end. A forever or a farewell.

WEEK 49
"We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin." The trees and their branches bend downward with an inch of pure white snow. As the wind lifts and twirls the snowflakes around, we watch nature's aerial ballet. Standing close to the road, a buck and doe freeze in a natural pose. Gossamer pink and blue clouds float above with the sun beginning to set behind us.

Slow Ride
We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin. I could see it nestled in the middle of two tall blue spruce trees. Everything was sprinkled with the freshly fallen snow and looked like something fresh from those travel magazines. I pinched myself so I knew that this was real.

The First Time And The Last
We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin. With the passenger seat window slightly jarred, emerald green leaves and whistling water cocooned my senses as the Land Rover climbed over the pent-up snow. My sleepiness quickly dissipated, I sat up tall and pressed my face as close to the windscreen as possible – in keen anticipation for my first encounter with snow. This wet, burning, cold substance had become a soon-to-be-ticked-off bucket list item.

The Beginning of an End
We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin. The road was covered with ice and I could feel our tires skid out as we rounded the corner of each switchback. I think Sam could see a bit of anxiety and nervousness on my face.

Two Secrets Too Many.
We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin. The wheels were slipping in the sludge, but we were safe: Marcel had the car well in hand. I leaned into the frost-patterned backseat window as we passed lines of heavy branches glinting with pure white. Marcel and Zuri's chatter fell into the background.

Nights in Acadia
We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin. The cabin was located deep within the forests of Acadia National Park near Bar Harbor, Maine. I sometimes wondered if this was the best idea or not for the two of try and figures out both our personal problems, we were having with one another. Alec and I had been through so much together, not just as a couple but we both endured a lot before we even met. In the beginning we were both very much in love but within the first year it was very rocky but, then the second year became easy but it still had its challenges. I know that sometimes its hard to heal from the past like I was having trouble coping with the loss of several of my family members over the years. But for Alec I know he felt defeated in more ways than I probably had. He went from losing his job to a near fatal death accident that could have costed him his life. I know its hard for the both of us to really talk about the things that just seem to always hold us back from going forward, but it has now gotten to a point where we had to go somewhere far away to talk it out and finally let it all out. He may not know my intentions for wanting to come out here just yet but I want us to be able to heal and grow from the past otherwise we are just going to keep letting our pasts eat at the both of us. So, I figured the cabin I inherited from my uncle in Bar Harbor was the perfect place to go but, I should have seriously checked the weather report before we left. But I was more focused on working on us then worrying about getting out of here on Monday.

The End of the Road
We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin. I'm a sucker for nature so, all the white trees were making my heart smile. Normally, it'd be enough to take my mind off any worries, troubles, or intrusive thoughts I had. But this time around things were different. Its stillness didn't translate as well as it normally did. Each glance outside of the car window seemed to get shorter and shorter as the flashbacks of us grew longer.
