Love in the Kitchen
There have been many crafts that I have take up over the years, looking for something that might stick, or become a passion of mine: scrapbooking, coloring, writing, singing, redecorating and reorganizing rooms of my house. But nothing really compares to being alone in the kitchen.

Flavor in Balance
I’m just gonna get right into it. At sixteen, I diagnosed myself with HS (hidradenitis Suppurativa) through Google. My doctor confirmed it at a same day appointment once I finally told my Mother, I was beyond crushed, confused, and trying to figure out what and who to blame. I suffered with severe symptoms for year’s until I discovered an herbal detox through a colleague at 22 and decided to try it, I trusted myself to be disciplined enough to get through and see some positive results. Before that, I looked at HS strictly as a skin disorder but this was before my further research of autoimmune diseases.

Passionate Cooking
I have been in the kitchen most of my life. My earliest memory was when I was about three years old when my parents and I lived in Hampton, VA. I helped my dark haired, slender mom make Christmas cookies, most notably, thimble cookies with jam. Mom would let me take a clean thimble and make little indentations in the small cookies to fill with fruit jam. Another favorite memory was ‘washing’ dishes with her after the dinner meal. I loved playing in the dish water.

Food Creations
Creating good food is my passion. Whether I’m eating it or cooking it, I enjoy the pleasure of indulging in it, crafting it, designing it, shaping it and moulding it into a tantalizing dish or sight that no one can resist. I enjoy immersing myself in the pleasurable activity of designing my cakes, using deft and skilled movements with my handy tool- my scissors. For me, the scissors is a powerful and useful device, following right behind the invention of sliced bread. Who knows, maybe the idea of sliced bread had its origins with a pair of scissors.

Ode to Rice
My love for salt oil rice cannot be underestimated. In fact, I'm eating some right now as a mid-morning snack with some toasted pecans. I'll eat it again at lunch, with sautéed greens and farm-fresh eggs. And if I'm lucky enough to have anything left over, it might very well end up as a late-night snack, studded with seaweed flakes and sesame seeds.
